The Candelaria City Council, through Aqualia, has begun the renovation works of the water supply network on Calle Vence, with an investment of 896,272.99 euros.
The renovation works of the water supply network on Calle Vence, in Candelaria, started this Monday. The project, executed by Aqualia, the company concessionaire of the Municipal Water Service, has a budget of 896,272.99 euros and includes the replacement of 1,225 linear meters of ductile iron piping with a diameter of 100 millimeters.
The mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito, has stated that this is one of the most important investments in hydraulic infrastructure in recent years in the municipality. “These much-needed works, which had been delayed, are finally starting and will mean a real improvement in the guarantee of water supply for the residents of the area,” she affirmed.
The works have begun at the intersection of Calle Vence with the TF-247, heading downwards. During their execution, which will last several weeks, temporary traffic disruptions are expected, such as occasional circulation restrictions, provisional detours for residents, and access limitations. Pedestrian access to homes will be maintained at all times, although during excavation phases, entry or exit of vehicles from private garages may not be possible.
The City Council and Aqualia have requested the cooperation of residents to facilitate the development of the works, as well as to adhere to the provisional signage and the indications of the construction personnel. Individuals with reduced mobility or daily medical needs can communicate their situation in advance so that it can be taken into account in the planning.
In addition to the network renewal, the Municipal Water Service offers property owners the possibility of renewing the section of the connection located in the public road free of charge. The section between the registration key (on the sidewalk) and the meter is privately owned, but Aqualia will carry out its renewal at no cost. In return, the owner must carry out the wall cutting and subsequently take care of covering and restoring the facade finish.
The City Council recommends taking advantage of this renewal, as the oldest section of the installation is the most prone to breakdowns, the repair of which would be the sole responsibility of the supply owner.
Furthermore, property owners who still have meters inside their homes or in hard-to-access places are encouraged to move them to the facade or to a location accessible from the public road. Those who carry out the necessary civil works to enable the new location on their own will benefit, at no cost, from the relocation of the meter, the renewal of the connection, and its connection to the new network.
Aqualia staff will inform the affected homes individually about the available alternatives and the necessary works to join this initiative, which will improve the accessibility of the facilities and optimize the management and maintenance of the service.
The works represent a significant improvement in the quality and continuity of water supply for the residents of Calle Vence and surrounding areas, reducing the risk of breakdowns and ensuring a more reliable service.
