The event, now in its 35th edition, combines sport, tradition, and solidarity. The start will be at 7:00 from the Parque de La Granja, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The municipality of Candelaria will once again be the epicentre of one of the most unique events in the Canary Islands calendar on August 15: the Floral Offering to the Virgin of Candelaria, which this year reaches its thirty-fifth edition. The event, organised by the Candelaria Town Hall and Deportes Salud, combines a non-competitive march with an act of Marian devotion and a charitable collection of food and hygiene products.
The start is scheduled for 07:00 from the Parque de La Granja, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with participant concentration from 06:00. The route, approximately 21 kilometres long, runs along the General South Road and passes through locations such as Tío Pino, Las Delicias-Ofra, Taco, Barranco Grande, Radazul, Tabaiba, and Barranco Hondo, descending through Las Caletillas to the square of the Basilica of Candelaria, where arrival is expected around 10:00.
Once in the square, participants will make a lap of the venue and deposit flowers before the General Patroness of the Archipelago, in a gesture that combines physical effort and religious tradition. The organisation has set a running pace of 7 minutes per kilometre, with a non-profit and non-competitive character.
True to its spirit of solidarity, the event requires the mandatory donation of personal hygiene products and/or non-perishable food, which must be delivered on the day of the t-shirt collection. Under the slogan “Help those in need,” the initiative aims to mobilise participants in favour of vulnerable individuals.
Registrations, costing 15 euros, are open until Thursday, August 13, via the website medsaludsport.es, with a limit of 700 runners. The event t-shirt, a full-colour model featuring the image of the Virgin, sleeveless and available in male and female versions, is mandatory on the day of the event. Distribution will begin on Tuesday, August 11, at MED Salud Sport, located at Calle Panamá No. 11, Barrio Buenos Aires, from 09:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 19:00.
After the finish, the Candelaria Town Hall and Deportes Salud will invite all participants to a restorative breakfast. Additionally, the organisation will provide a service of three buses for the return from the bus terminal at Rambla de los Menceyes, with departures at 12:00, 13:00, and 14:00 heading to the Parque de La Granja, in Santa Cruz.
The security operation will involve the collaboration of the local police from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, El Rosario, and Candelaria, as well as the Civil Guard, Red Cross, Civil Protection, and the Canary Islands Emergency Group (AEA). A sweep vehicle will accompany the runners to address any incidents and transport those in need to the finish line.
Six water supply points will be set up, located in Las Delicias, Barranco Grande, Cruce del Rosario, Radazul, Barranco Hondo, and Caletillas. However, the organisation recommends that participants bring their own hydration. As is tradition, the delivery of the flower bouquets will take place at the Bar Agrícola, located above the Las Caletillas Bridge.
The event is insured for all registered participants listed in the organisation's documentation. Each runner will be responsible for their actions and must always follow the instructions of the organisation's staff. The event, distinguished with the Tourist Merit Award from CIT Candelaria-Caletillas, has established itself as a benchmark in the municipality's event calendar, attracting participants from across the island.
