The Department of Street Cleaning and Waste Collection of Telde has launched a campaign to promote the proper management of bulky waste during the summer months, a period when littering on public roads increases.
The Telde City Council, through the Department of Street Cleaning and Waste Collection led by María Calderín, has initiated a citizen awareness campaign to promote the proper management of bulky waste during the summer. The initiative aims to reduce the abandonment of furniture, appliances, and other items on the streets, a practice that increases during this time of year.
The campaign reminds residents of the importance of respecting the municipal collection calendar for bulky waste, which establishes a specific day for each area of the municipality. Disposing of these items outside the assigned day not only creates a poor image on the streets but also hinders the work of cleaning services and causes inconvenience to other citizens.
María Calderín has stated that "keeping a clean city is a shared responsibility between the Administration and the citizens. The City Council provides residents with a free bulky waste collection service, so it is essential to use it correctly and respect the established days."
The councillor added that abandoning bulky items outside the scheduled calendar "creates an image of neglect in our streets, hinders the work of municipal cleaning services, and causes inconvenience to other citizens."
The campaign will be disseminated through digital media, radio stations, and the official social networks of Telde Limpia, aiming to reach as many residents as possible and encourage citizen collaboration.
Other waste and illegal dumping
In addition to bulky waste, the campaign emphasizes the proper management of other waste such as rubble and pruning debris, the abandonment of which on public roads is prohibited and may incur penalties. These materials must be taken to the free Municipal Green Point located in Las Rubiesas, where they receive appropriate treatment.
The initiative also reminds pet owners of their obligation to pick up after their pets, calling on them to collaborate in caring for the streets and public spaces of the municipality.
Calderín concluded that "small gestures, such as respecting the bulky waste collection calendar, taking waste to the appropriate place, or picking up after our pets, have a significant impact on the cleanliness of Telde. Together we can achieve a cleaner, better-maintained, and more pleasant city to live in."
Bulky waste collection calendar by area
The municipal bulky waste collection service is organized by days and areas. On Mondays, collection occurs in Valle de Jinámar, Jinámar, Cañada de los Perros, Las Haciendas, Las Remudas, San Antonio, La Pardilla, La Majadila, Los Arenales, Calle La Virgen, San Francisco, San Juan, San Gregorio, El Ejido, Lomo Caraballo, and Barrio de Ponce.
On Tuesdays, the service covers Caserones Alto and Bajo, Hoya Aguedita, Cendro, La Primavera, Hornos del Rey, Lomo Blanco, La Matanza, La Higuera Canaria, Valle de Los Nueve and Los Nueve Alto, Barranco El Tundidor, Lomo Magullo, Los Barros, Las Goteras, El Palmital Alto and Bajo, La Solana, La Gavia, Valle Casares, San Roque García Ruiz, Hoya Manrique, and El Calero Bajo.
On Wednesdays, collection takes place in Casas Nuevas, Clavellinas, Hoya Pozuelo, La Estrella, La Garita, Los Melones, Marpequeña Baja, Melenara, Playa de Ojos de Garza, Playa del Hombre, Salinetas, San Borondón, Tufia, Taliarte, Los Alisios I and II, Ojos de Garza and Urbanización Ojos de Garza, El Goro, Caserío de Gando, La Cochera, El Manigua, El Cardonal, Santa Rita, La Montañeta del Calero, La Viña, Barranco El Negro, Bocabarranco, Urbanización Las Rosas, El Calero Alto, and Las Tapias.
On Thursdays, it includes Las Huesas and Montaña Las Huesas, Urbanización de Jerez and Cruz de Jerez, Lomo Guinea, Cuatro Puertas, Piletillas, Casa Alonso and Casa Verona, Lomo Espino, Lomo Pollo and Lomo Los Frailes, Las Remudas, San Antonio, La Pardilla, Lomo Caraballo, Barrio de Ponce, La Majadilla, Pedro Paso, Tara, Camino a Tara, Valle de Jinámar and Jinámar, El Caracol Alto and El Caracol Bajo.
On Fridays, the service covers Montaña Las Palmas, Balcón de Telde, Lomo de La Herradura, San José de Las Longueras, Ermita de San José, Lomo Bristol, Lomo Catela and Lomo Salas, Las Medianías, Lomo Cementerio, Tecén, Los Arenales, La Breña, Cazadores, El Contrapeso, Las Bachilleras, Los Barros, Callejón del Castillo, and Cánovas del Castillo and Marpequeña Alta.
The Telde City Council reminds citizens of the importance of consulting and respecting the corresponding day for each area before disposing of bulky items, thus contributing to maintaining a cleaner and better-kept city.
