The XVI edition of the Aguas de Teror Trail will be presented this Thursday at 12:00 in Plaza del Pino. The race, which takes place on Saturday 26 July, will require several street closures in the municipality.
The town of Teror is finalising details for one of the most anticipated events in the mountain running calendar in the Canary Islands. This Thursday, 23 July, at 12:00 hours, the official presentation of the XVI edition of the ‘Aguas de Teror Trail – Challenge of the Peaks’ will take place, which will be held on Saturday 25 July starting at 08:30 hours. The event will be held in Plaza del Pino, in front of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pine.
During the presentation, the organisers will reveal the main aspects of the event, which each year attracts hundreds of runners and enthusiasts. The race, which runs through natural landscapes of the municipality, is a benchmark in the field of trail running in the archipelago.
The celebration of the sporting event will entail temporary traffic closures on several roads in the municipality during the morning of Saturday. The Teror City Council has detailed the affected streets and the timings so that residents and visitors can plan their journeys.
Paseo González Díaz will be temporarily closed for the start of the 21 and 15-kilometre races, between 08:45 and 09:30 hours. Calle Párroco Juan González, from the corner with José Peña Rivero to Camino del Castaño, will also be affected from 09:00 to 09:30 for the start of the 15 km.
Camino Basayeta, from the junction with Camino del Castaño to Paseo González Díaz, will be closed from 09:00 to 09:30 hours. Likewise, Camino del Castaño will be closed to traffic at the same time for the start of the 15 km.
For the 7-kilometre race, Calle El Chorrito to Paseo de Florián will be closed from 09:25 to 09:45 hours. Additionally, Camino Real del Álamo and Calle El Chorrito will change their direction of circulation, allowing access via Camino Real del Álamo and exit via El Chorrito, from 09:30 to 13:30 hours.
Calle La Mina will remain closed to vehicle traffic between 09:45 and 13:00 hours for the location of the circuit that will be shared by the three modalities (21, 15, and 7 km). Similarly, Calle Los Deportistas will be closed from 08:00 to 11:30 hours for the circuit and refreshment of the 21 and 15 km races.
Moreover, parking prohibitions have been established in several areas. In Calle José Hernández Jiménez, parking will not be allowed in the lateral lane corresponding to the pool and pavilion. In Camino Real del Álamo, parking will be prohibited between Puente del Álamo and the entrance to Muñigal. Finally, in Calle Obispo Urquinaona, parking will not be allowed on the right side from 07:30 to 16:00 hours, an area reserved for the safety vehicles of the event.
The XVI Aguas de Teror Trail is consolidating as a test of endurance that combines athletic effort with the enjoyment of the natural environment of Teror. Participants will traverse trails and forest tracks with elevations that test their physical and mental preparation.
The City Council recommends that residents and visitors avoid the affected areas during the closure times and follow the instructions of the mobility agents. It is also advised to use alternative parking and, whenever possible, to travel on foot or by public transport.
This Thursday's presentation will serve to unveil the final details of the route, the refreshment points, and the safety measures. The event, which already has a wide participation, promises a day of sport and camaraderie in the heart of Gran Canaria.
