The Galician folk group Luar Na Lubre is offering a concert tonight at the Teatro Circo de Marte in Santa Cruz de La Palma, at 20:30, to conclude the cultural cycle 'Primavera en la Fundación 2026' organised by the CajaCanarias Foundation.
The Teatro Circo de Marte hosts tonight, starting at 20:30, the concert of Luar Na Lubre, the iconic Galician folk band celebrating its 40th anniversary. The event, organised by the CajaCanarias Foundation, serves as the grand finale to the cultural cycle Primavera en la Fundación 2026 on the island of La Palma.
Tickets for the recital, which takes place at Calle Virgen de la Luz, 5, are available on the Foundation's website and at the box office. A full house is expected, given the group's popularity, having sold over 350,000 records throughout their career.
40 years of roots folk with international projection
Luar Na Lubre, which means 'moonlight in the sacred forest of the Celts', was born in A Coruña in 1986. Since then, they have released 20 albums, received two Gold Records and nine Music Awards, and were honoured with the Castelao Medal 2025 from the Xunta de Galicia.
The band has performed over 2,500 concerts in more than 50 countries, playing at the most important folk festivals in the world. They have shared the stage with Mike Oldfield, The Waterboys, The Corrs, Bob Geldof, and Spanish artists such as Víctor Manuel, Miguel Ríos, Luz Casal, Ismael Serrano, Pedro Guerra, and Diana Navarro.
Their style fuses traditional Galician music with modern arrangements, making them a reference point in European and Latin American folk. The Lubre: 40th Anniversary tour revisits the best of their repertoire, featuring iconic songs like Memoria da Noite and Chove en Santiago.
A cycle closure with Galician flavour in La Palma
Tonight's concert concludes the programming of Primavera en la Fundación 2026 in La Palma, a cycle that has included theatre, music, and exhibitions at various venues across the island. The CajaCanarias Foundation has committed to bringing one of the longest-standing and most prestigious folk formations to the island.
For music lovers in La Palma, it is a unique opportunity to enjoy live a group that rarely performs in the Canary Islands. The Teatro Circo de Marte, a charming 19th-century venue, will be the stage for an evening that promises to move the audience.
The concert will start promptly at 20:30 and will last approximately two hours. It is recommended to arrive early to avoid queues. After the concert, the Foundation has not planned any additional events, although attendees will have the chance to chat with the musicians at the exit, as is customary at such events.
For those who miss it, there is always the consolation that Luar Na Lubre has announced that the 40th anniversary tour will continue in other Spanish cities during the summer. But, as the locals know well, there is nothing like a live performance at home.
