The City Council of Santa Cruz de La Palma has added three General Administration Technicians as career civil servants, following a six-month selection process. The new recruits will occupy key positions in Contracting and Tax Management.
The City Council of Santa Cruz de La Palma has taken another step in its plan to strengthen the municipal workforce with the addition of three new General Administration Technicians (TAG). These career civil servants have taken office after passing a selection process that has been ongoing for the past six months, as reported by the Council.
The new technicians will occupy strategic positions in the areas of Contracting and Tax Management, two key departments for the day-to-day functioning of the City Council. With their arrival, it is expected that the processing of files will be expedited and the attention to citizens will improve, especially regarding tenders and municipal tax management.
A reinforcement that adds to seven other filled positions
These appointments are not an isolated event. They add to the seven positions that have recently been filled through various selection processes: two Technical Architect positions, one Industrial Technical Engineer, one Local Police Officer, and three Local Police agents. All of this is part of a strategy promoted by the governing group to strengthen the workforce and reduce temporary employment.
The Mayor of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Asier Antona, has highlighted that "we continue to take firm steps to strengthen the municipal administration with stable and qualified personnel, improving the response capacity of the City Council and the attention we provide to citizens."
"These incorporations are part of a plan aimed at providing the City Council with a more solid administrative structure, reducing temporary employment, and ensuring coverage of essential positions for the functioning of municipal services," explained the Councillor for Human Resources, Juan Guerra.
Open processes: from driver to library facilitator
The City Council currently has various selection processes open. Until 22 July, the application period will remain open to fill, through a free competitive examination, two driver positions, three caretaker positions, two locksmith positions, and one seamstress position. In the coming days, calls will be opened for one Second Gardener position and another for Library Facilitator, once published in the Official State Bulletin.
Additionally, new processes will begin to fill seven administrative assistant positions, two cleaner positions, and three administrative positions, in the latter case, through internal promotion. The recent approval of the Public Employment Offer for the 2025 fiscal year includes six new positions for open access: one administrative assistant, one social graduate, one first-class driver, and three Local Police agents.
The Councillor for Human Resources has emphasized that "we are making a significant effort to rejuvenate the workforce, fill structural vacancies, and offer job stability, which translates into a more efficient, better-organized administration prepared to respond to the needs of citizens."
For the residents of Santa Cruz de La Palma, this wave of hiring means, in practice, fewer delays in municipal procedures and more personalized attention. Those interested in the still-open positions can consult the bases on the City Council's electronic headquarters.
