The City Council of Arrecife has launched the largest Public Job Offer in its history, with 46 positions distributed between open competition and internal promotion. The application deadline ends on 17 July.

The City Council of Arrecife has opened the largest public personnel selection process in its history. The Public Job Offer (OPE) includes 46 positions, of which 28 are for new entrants through open competition and 18 are reserved for internal promotion of municipal staff. The announcement, published in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Las Palmas on 30 June 2025, aims to adapt the workforce to the population and administrative growth of the capital of Lanzarote.

Priority areas: Social Services, Urban Planning and Technical Office

The bulk of the new hires will be concentrated in departments with the highest workload. Social Services will incorporate social workers, social educators, psychologists, and legal advisors to assist individuals and families. Urban Planning and the Technical Office will also receive reinforcements, as will Human Resources, as detailed by the City Council.

The Councillor for Human Resources, Eli Merino, has coordinated the process, which is being carried out in stages to facilitate the organisation of the selection tests. The mayor, Yonathan de León, has emphasised that the increase in population and new administrative needs necessitate an update of the personnel structure.

Deadlines and how to submit applications

The specific bases for each announcement are being published progressively. The deadline for submitting applications ends on 17 July, although it may vary according to the category. Interested parties should consult the bases on the electronic headquarters of the City Council of Arrecife and submit the required documentation within the deadline.

For the residents of Arrecife, this OPE represents an opportunity for stable employment in local administration, as well as an improvement in the services they receive daily. With 46 new positions, it is expected to reduce processing times and provide more agile assistance in key areas such as social services and urban planning.

The announcement also includes positions for technicians who will serve in various departments, aiming to streamline municipal bureaucracy. The City Council reminds that many of the announcements remain open and encourages candidates to get informed in a timely manner.
