The municipality of Teguise hosts, from this Thursday, a showcase by photographer Guillermo Cervera, offering an intimate look at the landscapes, light, and traditions of the island of Lanzarote.
Photographer Guillermo Cervera inaugurated this Thursday in Teguise an exhibition that explores the essence of Lanzarote through more than thirty images. The exhibition, titled 'Lanzarote: light and landscape', will be open at the Casa de la Cultura in Teguise until March 15.
The exhibition features snapshots taken over the last five years by Cervera, portraying everything from the lava fields of Timanfaya National Park to the beaches of Famara, including the white villages of the interior. The author explained that his aim is to showcase the island's diversity beyond tourist clichés.
The Councillor for Culture of the Teguise City Council, Olivia Duque, highlighted that the exhibition is an opportunity for locals and visitors to discover corners of the island from an artistic perspective. 'Cervera has managed to capture the unique light of Lanzarote and the authenticity of its landscapes,' Duque noted during the inauguration.
Guillermo Cervera, a native of Lanzarote, has published several photography books about the Canary Islands and has exhibited his work in various galleries across Spain and Europe. For this exhibition, he has selected black and white and colour images that reflect the contrast between the volcanic land and the blue ocean.
The Casa de la Cultura in Teguise is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00, and on Saturdays from 9:00 to 13:00. Admission is free. The City Council has organised guided tours for school groups and associations by appointment.
The exhibition is part of the municipality's cultural programme for the first quarter of 2026, which also includes concerts, theatre, and children's workshops. The council has encouraged locals to come and appreciate Cervera's work, which he considers a tribute to the identity of Lanzarote.
