The Teguise Town Council has congratulated the Enriqueta and Girasol guesthouses for being awarded the Distinguished Tourism 2026 recognition, a prize that highlights their contribution to the island's tourism sector.
The Teguise Town Council has expressed its congratulations to the Enriqueta and Girasol guesthouses after receiving the Distinguished Tourism 2026 award. This recognition, granted by the Tourism Department of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, rewards the efforts of these establishments in promoting and developing the tourism sector on the island.
Both guesthouses, located in the municipality of Teguise, have been selected for their track record and quality of service. The Enriqueta guesthouse, a traditional accommodation in the historic centre of the Villa, and the Girasol guesthouse, situated in the Costa Teguise area, represent two models of lodging that combine local authenticity with visitor care.
The mayor of Teguise, on behalf of the municipal corporation, has highlighted the importance of such recognitions in showcasing the efforts of small tourism businesses. “These guesthouses are an example of how quality tourism can coexist with the essence of our municipality,” municipal sources have stated.
The Distinguished Tourism award is granted annually to establishments, professionals, and entities that stand out for their contribution to the sector in Lanzarote. In this edition, the jury particularly valued the commitment of Enriqueta and Girasol to hospitality and personalised service, as well as their integration into the local environment.
For the residents of Teguise, this award represents a source of pride and a boost for the local economy. Tourism is one of the main drivers of the municipality, and the recognition of these accommodations reinforces Teguise's image as a quality destination. Furthermore, the award is expected to attract more visitors interested in authentic experiences, away from mass tourism.
The Enriqueta guesthouse, run by the same family for decades, is known for its welcoming atmosphere and its prime location near the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Meanwhile, the more modern Girasol guesthouse offers services tailored to current needs without losing its family character.
The Town Council has encouraged other establishments in the municipality to follow the example of these guesthouses and to participate in future editions of the competition. “This recognition demonstrates that effort and dedication are rewarded,” they added from the council.
The award ceremony for the Distinguished Tourism 2026 will take place in the coming days at an event organised by the Cabildo of Lanzarote. Attendance is expected from representatives of the tourism sector, island and municipal authorities, as well as the owners of the awarded establishments.
With this award, Teguise adds another recognition to its tourist offer, which already includes other awarded establishments and services from previous editions. The news has been well received by the local hospitality sector, which sees these awards as an opportunity to promote the municipality as a reference destination in Lanzarote.
