The call, funded by its own resources and the Canary Social Emergency Fund, will address emergency situations and facilitate women's autonomy. Applications can be submitted until December 1.
The Cabildo of Lanzarote has launched a call for individual financial aid for women victims of gender violence, with a total budget of 101,729.75 euros. The initiative, which combines the island corporation's own funds and the Canary Social Emergency Fund, aims to respond to emergency situations and support the recovery of those affected.
Of the total amount, 70,000 euros comes from the Cabildo's coffers, while the 31,729.75 euros remaining comes from the Canary Social Emergency Fund. The aid will be granted in the order of application submission until the available credit is exhausted, according to the regulatory bases published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas.
A resource for emergency and autonomy
The Cabildo's Councillor for Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, has emphasised the importance of this aid as a key tool to support women in vulnerable situations. “This aid represents an essential resource to provide an effective response to those women who are going through a situation of special vulnerability due to gender violence,” Acuña stated.
“This aid represents an essential resource to provide an effective response to those women who are going through a situation of special vulnerability due to gender violence,” explained Marci Acuña.
The councillor added that the institution is working to provide a strong support network. “No woman should feel alone when she needs a support network to regain her autonomy and her life project,” he affirmed, stressing the goal of facilitating the independence of victims.
The grants can be awarded directly, paying the amount to the beneficiary herself or her legal representative. There is also the possibility of making indirect payments to professionals, entities, or providers that offer services related to the aid, which allows covering needs such as housing, legal advice, or psychological care.
Deadline until December and swift resolution
Interested women can submit their applications until December 1, 2026. The documentation must be submitted to the Social Welfare Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, at the General Registry of the Corporation, or through the means provided in current regulations, such as electronic registration.
Grant resolutions will be issued before December 15, 2026. Payment will be made by bank transfer to the account indicated by the beneficiary or, when applicable, directly to the professional or provider of the subsidised service. This system aims to expedite the arrival of funds to those who need it most.
One step further in protecting victims
The Cabildo of Lanzarote has reminded that this aid aims to meet immediate needs arising from gender violence and facilitate access to services and resources that allow for the comprehensive recovery of women. The call is part of the institution's equality and social protection policies, which in recent years have strengthened allocations aimed at combating male violence.
For the residents of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, this line of aid represents direct financial support in critical moments. The Cabildo encourages women suffering from gender violence to inform themselves and apply for the available resources, reminding them that confidentiality is guaranteed throughout the process.
Interested parties can obtain more information at the Social Welfare Area of the Cabildo or through victim support phone numbers, such as 016, which is available 24 hours a day and leaves no trace on the bill.
