Five young people from Lanzarote and La Graciosa travelled to Valladolid to support Ignacio Dancausa as the new president of Nuevas Generaciones del PP. The island will have representation on the National Board.
A delegation from Nuevas Generaciones de Lanzarote y La Graciosa travelled this weekend to Valladolid to participate in the XVI Congress of Nuevas Generaciones of Spain. The gathering served to renew the national leadership and proclaim Ignacio Dancausa as the new president, succeeding Basque MP Bea Fanjul.
Island Support for the New Leadership
The delegation was led by the island president, Ana Hernández, and the general secretary, Pedro Cabrera, along with three other members. According to the Popular Party of Lanzarote, the party believes this congress represents “a boost for the brave young people of this country.”
Hernández highlighted that “this congress provided a shot of energy” for those aspiring to see Alberto Núñez Feijóo reach Moncloa. The island president thanked the local PP leadership for facilitating the attendance of five members at the event.
Representation on the National Board
Lanzarote and La Graciosa will have a voice in the highest decision-making body of the youth organisation. Ana Hernández and Óscar Díaz, a member since 2018 and originally from Tías, will be part of the National Board of Nuevas Generaciones.
Díaz, who has eight years of membership, represents the youth base of the tourist municipality. His inclusion in the national body is seen by the party as an opportunity to convey the concerns of young people from Lanzarote to the national level.
A New Era for PP Youth
The Valladolid congress has ushered in a leadership headed by Ignacio Dancausa and Antonio Landáburu, from Madrid and Murcia respectively. According to Ana Hernández, “they have shown that their goal is to continue adding people to this great project and represent the Generation of Change.”
The event served to highlight the work of Bea Fanjul over the past years and to outline the future direction of an organisation seeking to rejuvenate the party. For the Lanzarote attendees, the experience has been “enriching” and has allowed them to establish contacts with young people from all over Spain.
The five members of NNGG have already returned to the island, where they plan to convey the conclusions of the congress to the rest of the membership in the coming weeks.
