The reigning champions of the Canary Islands lead the list of 123 teams registered for the 12 Rallye Ciudad de La Laguna – Trofeo Worten, taking place this weekend as the fifth event of the Canary Islands Asphalt Rally Championship.

The Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 of Enrique Cruz and Yeray Mujica will bear the number 1 at the start of the 12 Rallye Ciudad de La Laguna – Trofeo Worten, which is held this Friday and Saturday. The organisation, managed by Sport Eventos Tenerife, has confirmed a list of 123 teams, one less than in the 2024 edition, but with a quality that promises excitement on the roads of Tenerife.

Six Rally2 and a two-time European champion as a draw

Among the participants, there are six Rally2 units, including the Citroën C3 Rally2 of the 2024 winner, Yeray Lemes, who returns with Aitor Cambeiro. Sergio Fuentes and Teco Hernández, with their Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, are seeking their fourth consecutive podium in the Laguna event. The big news is the presence of two-time continental champion Alexey Lukyanuk, who is making his debut in La Laguna with a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 alongside Yury Kulikov, in his quest for the Canary title.

Manuel Mesa and Dailos González (Ford Fiesta R5 MKII) are also on the list, as well as Jorge Rodríguez and Taydía Santana (Alpine A110), Óscar Dóniz and Rayco Hernández (Suzuki Swift Rally2-Kit), and Cristian del Castillo – Juan José del Castillo (Citroën C3 N5). The TCRA window adds teams such as Víctor Delgado – Ignacio Eguren (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X), winners of a previous edition, or Airan Mejías – José Agustín de la Torre (BMW M3 E46), also past winners.

Category 2 and Clio Trophy: talent and excitement

Category 2 arrives loaded with incentives featuring teams like Alexis Martín – Pedro Viera (Peugeot 208 Rally4), Erik Guerra – Claudia Lemes (Renault Clio Rally4), and the young promise Sara Dorta, who drives a Ford Fiesta Rally4 alongside Maite Gutiérrez. Javier Alonso also makes his debut with Mayte González at the wheel of a Renault Clio Rally3. The Clio Trophy Canarias returns with eight teams, led by the Tenerife duo Walter Delgado – Alejandro Rodríguez.

The sport regularity category will have 11 teams in high average, led by the Gran Canarians José Juan Díaz – José Díaz (BMW 323i), and 5 in low average, with the Tenerife duo Juan Carlos Salas – Eliseo Becerra (Toyota Celica) at the forefront. Trophies such as the 'Copa 1.6', 'Costa Adeje Tenerife Sur', 'Trofeo FIASCT de Promoción Deportes Tenerife', and 'Trofeo Opel' will be contested in parallel.

Institutional support and route

The rally has the backing of the City Council of La Laguna, the Cabildo of Tenerife, the Government of the Canary Islands, and several municipalities such as Tegueste, Tacoronte, El Rosario, and Candelaria, as well as sponsors like Worten and Archiauto. For fans, the event represents a unique opportunity to see the best drivers of the archipelago in action on a route that combines fast and technical stages. The event kicks off on Friday afternoon and concludes on Saturday, with schedules available on the official website of the organiser.
