Parque Las Indias hosts the III Peruvian Gastrocultural Fair this Saturday, from 12:00 to 18:00, featuring ceviches, limeña causes, and live music.
Parque Las Indias, in the Salud-La Salle district of the capital, will transform into a showcase of Peruvian culture this Saturday. The III Peruvian Gastrocultural Fair, organised by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council and the Peruvian Community of Tenerife (COPETEN), will bring together eight restaurants and two local businesses offering traditional dishes such as ceviche, limeña cause, and ají de gallina.
The event, which is free to attend, will take place between 12:00 and 18:00. Attendees will be able to taste authentic products while enjoying live music, folk dances, and crafts. Among the participants are the restaurants Edtoart, Millo, Mistura, Aroma y Sabor, Machu Picchu, Pollos a la Brasa, Ceviche N1, and Ceviboom, as well as the businesses Congelados Alba and Mel chio.
The Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted that the fair "energises public spaces" and "strengthens ties with a fully integrated Peruvian community." In statements made during the presentation, Bermúdez noted that "Peruvian cuisine is an international benchmark" and that "having such a comprehensive showcase in our city is a privilege."
Zaida González, councillor for the Salud-La Salle district, explained that the aim is for "Parque Las Indias to establish itself as a great neighbourhood meeting point." González assured that the day "is designed with all families in mind" and aims to "celebrate coexistence, give voice to different cultures, and learn together in a festive atmosphere."
Víctor Ramírez, president of COPETEN, confirmed that this third edition features "greater participation" from restaurants and artists. "Peruvian singers who have just arrived from prominent national orchestras will delight us with all their art," Ramírez announced.
The fair was born three years ago as a joint initiative of the City Council and the Peruvian community to highlight Andean culture and promote multicultural coexistence. With this edition, the organisers aim to establish it as an essential annual event in the festive calendar of the Tenerife capital.
The Salud-La Salle district, where the park is located, is a residential area with increasing cultural diversity. The celebration of such events "strengthens social fabric and promotes mutual understanding," according to municipal sources.
For the residents of Santa Cruz, the fair represents an opportunity to travel to Peru without leaving the island. Star dishes, such as ceviche or limeña cause, will be prepared with fresh products and traditional recipes. Additionally, live music and folk dances will complete an immersive experience.
The organisers recommend arriving early to enjoy all the offerings. The park has shaded areas and benches, and access is pedestrian. No prior registration is required.
With this third edition, the Peruvian Gastrocultural Fair solidifies itself as an event that "energises the local economy and promotes integration," according to councillor González. "We want the aroma of the best cuisine, the colour of crafts, and the joy of folklore to emerge in a celebration made by and for the neighbours," she concluded.
