The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council reminds that the deadline for submitting proposals for the Carnival 2027 poster competition ends on July 29, under the slogan 'Eternal Rome: The Empire of Carnival'.
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Autonomous Organism of Festivals, has made a final call to designers, illustrators, and photographers to submit their applications for the competition that will choose the official image of Carnival 2027. The deadline expires on July 29, and this year's edition will be inspired by the theme 'Eternal Rome: The Empire of Carnival'.
The competition is structured in two phases. In the first phase, an evaluation committee will select five finalist proposals. Each of the authors will receive €1,000 for their initial work. Subsequently, the finalists will have 30 calendar days to develop the complete graphic identity of the Carnival based on the idea presented.
Once the works are completed, it will be the citizens who decide. For seven days, the public will be able to vote for their favourite design through the channels set up by the city council. The winner will receive a prize of €12,000 and their work will become the official poster of Carnival 2027.
The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, has emphasised the importance of the competition for the history of the festival. He stated that the poster is not just the image of one edition, but a symbol that reflects the essence of the Carnival and enriches the artistic heritage of a celebration that is part of the city's identity.
For his part, the councillor for Festivals, Javier Caraballero, has encouraged creators to take advantage of these last days to participate. He highlighted that the call recognises artistic talent with a financial allocation commensurate with the project's relevance and that being part of the history of the Santa Cruz Carnival is an added incentive.
The competition rules stipulate that proposals must be submitted electronically through the city council's electronic headquarters. The council recommends reviewing the technical and documentary requirements before submitting to avoid last-minute errors.
The Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is considered one of the most international festivals in the world, with a projection that transcends the island's borders. The choice of the poster is a key step in the preparation of each edition, and this time, the slogan 'Eternal Rome: The Empire of Carnival' promises to transport participants and the public to the grandeur of ancient Rome.
For local designers, the competition represents a unique opportunity to see their work showcased worldwide. The city council expects high participation, although the tight deadline could limit the options for those who have not yet started their sketches.
The Autonomous Organism of Festivals reminds that the citizen voting process ensures the involvement of residents in the final decision. The combination of professional criteria and popular choice aims to find the image that best represents the spirit of Carnival 2027.
With the deadline just around the corner, interested parties have only a few days to finalise their projects. Creativity and originality will be the determining factors for advancing to the next phase and ultimately competing for the €12,000 prize.
