The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council will sell 20,800 vouchers of 25 euros from August 4, with a municipal contribution of 40%, to ease family expenses for back-to-school.
The sixth edition of the consumption vouchers in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will kick off on August 4 with a municipal investment of over 220,000 euros. In total, 20,800 vouchers of 25 euros will be made available to residents, an initiative aimed at boosting local commerce and assisting families with back-to-school expenses.
More municipal aid and two types of vouchers
The main novelty of this campaign is the increase in the City Council's contribution, which will now be 40% of the voucher's value. Thus, the general consumption vouchers — aimed at commerce and hospitality — will cost the user 15 euros, while the City Council will finance the remaining 10. Each person can purchase a maximum of four vouchers.
On the other hand, the Sunday Vouchers have a 50% funding: the customer pays 12.50 euros and the City Council covers another 12.50. In this category, each user can buy up to two vouchers per Sunday, with a limit of six throughout the campaign, which runs until November 2.
As explained by the CEO of the Development Society, Carmen Pérez, the vouchers will be distributed by districts based on the number of participating shops: Centro-Ifara (7,500), Salud-La Salle (4,400), Suroeste (2,200), Ofra-Costa Sur (1,500), and Anaga (400).
Objective: mobilise 520,000 euros in local commerce
The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted that the campaign will mobilise around 520,000 euros in direct consumption across more than 300 participating establishments. “We were the first in the Canary Islands to launch consumption vouchers, an initiative that many others have copied but of which we are proud,” he stated.
Bermúdez emphasised that the objective is twofold: to help businesses during the summer “low season” and, above all, to enable families to save on back-to-school purchases. The initiative, promoted by the City Council through the Development Society and in collaboration with the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (Fauca), has established itself as a benchmark in the islands.
“After five successful editions, we continue to strengthen this campaign to better meet the needs of our local commerce and citizens,” the mayor noted.
How to access the vouchers and shop participation
The vouchers can be purchased through the website www.bonoconsumosantacruz.com, which will be operational from July 16 for establishments to submit their application for participation. Consumers, for their part, will be able to buy them from August 4.
Carmen Pérez reminded that the vouchers are valid in all five districts of the capital and that more than 300 participating shops are expected. The campaign will last until November 2, thus covering the period of highest family spending after the summer.
With this new edition, Santa Cruz de Tenerife reaffirms its commitment to local commerce and support for household economies, in a context where back-to-school represents an extra effort for many families.
