The organisation of the Habaneras Festival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has announced the order of participation of the nine rondallas and lyrical groups that will perform this Friday, July 10 in La Concepción square starting at 19:30.
La Concepción square will host a new edition of the Habaneras Festival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife this Friday, July 10, which will kick off at 19:30 with the performance of the Rondalla Las Valkirias. The event, which has established itself as one of the cultural highlights of the summer in the capital, will bring together nine musical groups representative of the Tenerife scene.
The rondallas open the evening
The performance order will begin with the Rondalla Las Valkirias, followed by Peña del Lunes, Rondalla Gran Tinerfe, and Los Fregolinos. Next, La Rondalla Sociedad Mamel’s and Unión Artística El Cabo will take the stage, leading into the second part of the festival.
The final stretch of the event will feature Rondalla Lírico Coral Los Aceviños and Masa Coral Tinerfeña, before the grand finale by the Agrupación Lírica La Zarzuela. Each group will have a limited time to showcase the best of their repertoire, in a night dedicated to habaneras and choral music.
A tradition that grows in the capital
The Habaneras Festival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has been celebrated for over a decade and each year attracts a loyal audience that fills La Concepción square. The organisation highlights that the event aims to
“value the musical tradition of the rondallas and lyrical groups of Tenerife, offering the public a show where interpretative quality, emotion, and cultural heritage will be the main protagonists.”
For the residents of Santa Cruz, the festival is an opportunity to enjoy live music in an iconic setting, without the need to travel. Admission is free, and it is recommended to arrive early to secure a good spot, as the square tends to fill up completely.
A summer with the flavour of habanera
The festival is part of the summer cultural programme of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, which includes other outdoor events. This Friday's event is one of the most anticipated by lovers of traditional Canarian music. Last year, attendance exceeded 2,000 people, and forecasts for this edition point to a similar figure.
The organisation encourages locals and visitors to arrive from 19:30 to enjoy a night of live music. La Concepción square, in the heart of the historic centre, offers an unparalleled setting for this evening that promises to fill the heart of the Tenerife capital with habaneras.
