Aruban Sarah-Quita Offringa and Swiss Balz Müller score the highest points on the second day of the championship in Fuerteventura.
Sotavento beach, in the municipality of Pájara, was once again the epicentre of world windsurfing this Saturday. The second day of the World Cup showcased top-level performances in both the women's and men's categories, with the quarter-finals and semi-finals as the main attractions.
Offringa, unstoppable towards the final
The Aruban Sarah-Quita Offringa, the current reference in women's freestyle, began her participation with a display. In the quarter-finals, she dominated the German Helena Derya Lale with 33.4 points, the best score of the round. In the semi-finals, she maintained control against Sandra Schill and achieved 32.5 points, with moves like a forward loop and an air funnel.
The Dutch Maaike Huvermann also had a brilliant morning. After defeating her compatriot Isabel van Noesel in the quarter-finals (28.9 to 4.9), she faced Lisa Kloster in the semi-finals in a very close duel. Kloster took the lead at the start, but Huvermann responded with a shaka, culo, and spock kono to win 29.1 to 20.7. Now, Offringa and Huvermann will face each other in the grand final, while Kloster and Schill will compete for third place.
Müller raises the bar in the men's category
In the men's category, Swiss Balz Müller delivered the standout performance of the quarter-finals. Against Italian Jacopo Testa, Müller completed a high-level repertoire with a shifty, kabikuchi, pasko 360 and a combination of cheeseroll into shaka, reaching 45.4 points, the highest score of the championship so far. Testa, with 40.6 points, could not surpass him.
Müller will face Greek Lennart Neubauer in the semi-finals, who eliminated Belgian Dieter Van der Eyken by 41.2 to 37.3. On the other hand, Japanese Takumi Moriya held off a comeback from Belgian Steven Van Broeckhoven by just half a point (30 to 29.5) and will meet the reigning world champion, Yentel Caers. Caers clearly surpassed Dutch Bodhi Kempen (39.3 to 25.7).

The heats, lasting nine minutes with three minutes of transition, are held in wind conditions that allow for spectacular maneuvers. The women's final and the men's semi-finals will take place this Sunday, with free entry for the public.
