The Pájara Town Hall thanks the Fuerteventura Cabildo for launching a special bus service during the Windsurf World Championship and La Carpa. The measure aims to facilitate travel and promote more sustainable mobility.
The municipality of Pájara will have a special bus service during the weekends of the Windsurf World Championship and La Carpa, two of the most anticipated events of the summer in Fuerteventura. The initiative, agreed upon between the Town Hall, the island Cabildo, and the La Carpa organization, will allow residents and tourists to travel more comfortably and sustainably.
Four days of free transport
The service will be provided over four days spread across the three weekends during which La Carpa takes place, as confirmed by the Town Hall. Although the Town Hall has not specified the exact routes, it is expected that they will connect the main hubs of the municipality with the event areas.
The measure was agreed upon in a coordination meeting attended by the first deputy mayor, Alexis Alonso; the councillor for Traffic and Safety, Raimundo Dacosta; the councillor for Transport, Pepe Díaz; and the island councillor for Transport, Luis González. All of them positively assessed the institutional collaboration.
Sustainable mobility and fewer cars
The main objective is to reduce the use of private vehicles during these large events, which attract thousands of people. The Pájara Town Hall highlighted that the initiative will contribute to a more environmentally friendly mobility, in line with the municipality's commitment to sustainable tourism.
The Town Hall emphasized that collaboration with the Cabildo has been key to making this service a reality.
“We appreciate the willingness and joint work of the Fuerteventura Cabildo to make this initiative possible,” municipal sources stated.
A summer of major events
The Windsurf World Championship and La Carpa are two events that turn Pájara into the epicentre of leisure and sports on the island. The Windsurf World Championship attracts the best international riders, while La Carpa brings together thousands of attendees with concerts and activities. The combination of both events significantly increases public attendance, making the bus service essential.
For the residents of Pájara, this measure provides relief for daily travel during those weekends. Residents will be able to leave their cars at home and opt for free public transport, avoiding traffic jams and parking issues.
The Town Hall recommends checking the schedules and stops of the special service, which will be published soon on the municipal website and the council's social media. The initiative adds to other sustainable mobility actions promoted by the municipality in recent years.
