The Candelaria Town Hall has announced traffic restrictions for this Saturday, between 15:45 and 19:30, due to the II Rallye Ciudad de La Laguna. Two timed sections will affect several roads in the municipality.
The regional sporting event will traverse island and municipal roads, necessitating the closure of the TF-247 (Los Peneras) and the TF-523 (ascent to Teide via Arafo) for several hours. The Town Council has urged residents to plan their journeys in advance and heed the instructions of the officers.
Sections Directly Affected in Candelaria
The timed section 7, named Los Loros, will run along the TF-523 from the junction with the road to Teide via La Esperanza to the Comarcal Winery. The closure will extend from 15:45 to 18:45, although the section will start at 16:45. According to municipal sources, there will be no direct impact on municipal roads in Candelaria, except for occasional access to private estates.
The second section, Candelaria (Los Peneras – TF-247), will begin at 17:30 and will close the TF-247 from a few metres after the junction with Camino La Punta until it connects with the TF-28, continuing past Lomo Juan Díaz street. The closure will be maintained from 16:30 to 19:30.
Municipal Roads with Alternative Routes
The Town Hall has detailed alternative routes for the affected streets. The Chicoro street, between the TF-247 and the Plaza, can be bypassed via Calle El Seifón, Camino La Punta, and TF-28. Seifón street has an alternative via Camino La Punta towards TF-28. For La Herradura street, it is recommended to divert via Calle Los Cuchillos towards Malpaís and Calle La Cañaíta to La Hidalga (Arafo) and TF-28. San Antonio street, from TF-247 to the Plaza, can be avoided via La Cañaíta towards La Hidalga and TF-28. In the case of El Madroño street, as it is closed to traffic at its end, it is suggested to park on Calle Guaches de la Virgen or nearby.
Roads Without Alternatives During the Closure
Some streets will not have an alternative route and will be impassable during the closure period. These include: Vence street (descending at its intersection with TF-28), Lomo Juan Díaz street, Camino El Guarrajo, the road ascending to Malpaís (section between TF-28 and TF-247), Niaza street, La Sabinita street, Agustiniano street, and the remaining direct accesses to the TF-247 and TF-28 in the affected section.
The Town Council has thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation, reminding them that this is an official sporting event supervised by security and emergency services. For those with plans on Saturday afternoon, it is best to consult the closure map and seek alternatives in advance. However, if anyone was considering a trip to Teide via the TF-523, it is better to postpone it until Sunday.
