The International Film Music Festival of Tenerife brings the Spanish premiere of this chamber format to Gran Canaria, following last night's success at the Auditorium of Tenerife.
Next Saturday, July 18, at 19:00 hours, the Teatro Guiniguada in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will host the concert ‘John Williams Reimagined’, one of the highlights of the 20th anniversary of FIMUCITÉ. The show, which premiered last night in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorium of Tenerife to an emotional ovation, marks the Spanish debut of this chamber format dedicated to the musical universe of the legendary composer who has won five Academy Awards.
A luxury trio for a legendary repertoire
The concert is produced by Robert Townson and features three top-level performers: Italian pianist Simone Pedroni, American flautist Sara Andon, and Madrid cellist Irene Alvar Rozas, a member of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra. Together they will perform some of John Williams' most iconic scores, such as Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
During last night's performance in Tenerife, Sara Andon dedicated her rendition of Jurassic Park to actor Sam Neill, who passed away earlier this week. This gesture moved the audience and highlighted the personal connection that musicians establish with the works.
The voice of the protagonists
Robert Townson praised the audience's response and the interpretative quality: “It was a magical night, the soloists achieved incredible musicality. We all grew up with John Williams' music and are very grateful to share it with the audience of the Canary Islands in this 20th anniversary of FIMUCITÉ.”
“I am very happy and honoured to be here. This is my fifth time being part of the festival and I feel it is a family to me. This trio format concert is very special because we have recorded a new album dedicated to the music of John Williams, which is beloved worldwide, and now we can bring it to intimate concert halls, like this one at the Auditorium of Tenerife, which is one of the most beautiful places I have ever played,” added Sara Andon.
Simone Pedroni also expressed his satisfaction with participating in the festival and the artistic outcome of the concert, in an evening that confirmed the interest and emotional connection that Williams' music continues to evoke across different generations.
An intimate format with the composer's approval
The selection of themes aims to showcase both the melodic strength and the expressive richness of Williams, in a chamber reading that has the explicit approval of the composer himself, who at 94 years old remains one of the most influential figures in film history. The programme also includes Memoirs of a Geisha, Hook, Sabrina, The Witches of Eastwick, and A Far Off Horizon.
