The island council has launched 'Patio Ciudadan@' on the Dependencia La Palma website, a participation channel to gather suggestions, incidents, and good practices from users.
The Cabildo of La Palma has initiated the Patio Ciudadan@, a digital tool that will allow residents of the island to actively participate in improving Social Action services. The space, hosted on the Dependencia La Palma website, aims to collect contributions from citizens to optimise the quality of public care.
Citizen participation for a closer administration
The councillor for Social Action and Equality, Ángeles Fernández, explained that this initiative is not intended to solve specific problems, but to build a collective vision on how to advance in social care. “Listening to those who use these services allows us to better understand their needs, identify opportunities for improvement, and make decisions based on real and useful information,” she stated.
The Patio Ciudadan@ is part of the Spaces for Dialogue for Social Innovation project, specifically in the area of support in the environment for children and adolescents. The tool reflects the island government's commitment to a more participatory administration focused on continuous improvement.
How will the new channel work?
Through this space, users will be able to submit suggestions, report detected incidents, or acknowledge good practices they consider relevant. The information received will be recorded and analysed in a structured manner to identify trends, needs, and opportunities for improvement that will help guide the strategic planning of services.
The system will feature a dashboard that will periodically analyse the data using indicators on participation, incidents, proposals, and recognitions. This will facilitate the detection of trends and the prioritisation of actions across various services and municipalities on the island.
The councillor highlighted that this initiative aligns with the Cabildo's ongoing work, which advocates for public innovation and citizen participation, incorporating tools that transform the contributions of the population into strategic knowledge for better planning of social policies.
Guarantee of confidentiality and data protection
The Cabildo has assured that all contributions will be handled with guaranteed protection of personal data and confidentiality. The information collected will serve to improve services such as dependency, childhood, or social inclusion, directly benefiting the residents of La Palma.
