The event, organised by Club La Santa, presents a significant novelty this year: its move to September, a decision aimed at providing better weather conditions and consolidating the competition calendar in the archipelago.
Over four days, participants will face a variety of routes, including fast tracks, technical trails, climbs, descents, sandy areas, and sections over volcanic terrain. Most cyclists will opt for the full four-stage format, while those choosing the reduced format will join in over the weekend to complete the last two days. Riders in the cadet and junior categories will take part in the final stage on Sunday, September 6.
The competition will kick off on Thursday, September 3, with a 21-kilometre time trial between Caleta de Famara and the Ermita de Las Nieves. This first stage will take participants from the coast to one of the highest points in Lanzarote, becoming the day with the most favourable profile for climbing specialists. The route will traverse some of the island's highest-altitude trails before reaching the Ermita de Las Nieves, a traditional pilgrimage site set in a privileged location, offering spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean.
The second stage, scheduled for Friday, September 4, will consist of 56 kilometres starting and finishing at Club La Santa. Cyclists will begin the day facing an uphill terrain towards Mancha Blanca and Tinguatón, where they will encounter several steep climbs that will mark the first significant differences in the overall classification. After overcoming this first part, the route will lead to faster trails and various downhill sections that will take participants back to Club La Santa, where the finish line and recovery area will be located.
On Saturday, September 5, the longest stage of the competition will take place, featuring a route of 83 kilometres and a total positive elevation gain of 1,649 metres. Participants in the electric bike category will complete a reduced version of 52 kilometres, while cyclists registered in the two-stage format will also join on this day. The highest point of the route will be reached around the 53-kilometre mark, at an altitude of 599 metres. Before reaching this point, riders will need to navigate several technical areas that will require attention and skill on the bike, in addition to climbing the Presa de Mala, one of the day's major points of interest. This eight-kilometre ascent will again determine the King and Queen of the Mountain awards among the fastest cyclists. Once past the most demanding point, the profile will become more favourable until reaching the finish line.
The fourth and final stage will take place on Sunday, September 6, over a route of 50 kilometres. It will be the day with the highest number of participants, as cyclists from the four and two-stage formats will be joined by riders in the cadet and junior categories. The start from Club La Santa will lead to a flat first track before facing an approximately 12-kilometre long, gentle, and fast climb over some of Lanzarote's characteristic volcanic rock terrain. This section will take participants through one of the most wind-exposed areas of the island, a factor that could also prove decisive during the stage.
