The Cabildo of Fuerteventura resumes the 'Landscapes with History' programme with two free guided tours exploring the coastal heritage of the island. The routes will take place in August with limited capacity.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through its Cultural Heritage department, has announced the return of the 'Landscapes with History' programme for this summer. The initiative includes two guided routes that will allow participants to discover the historical, cultural, and landscape heritage of the island through emblematic coastal sites.
The first route, titled 'From the Castle to the Salinas', will take place on Saturday, 1st August. The route will start from the Castle of San Buenaventura and continue along the coast, where attendees will learn about heritage elements such as the ancient lime kilns and defensive remnants linked to World War II. The itinerary will conclude at the Salinas del Carmen Museum, offering a comprehensive view of the historical evolution of Fuerteventura's coast.
The second event will be on Saturday, 22nd August in El Cotillo. During this route, participants will visit some of the main heritage assets of this coastal area, known for its fishing tradition. The route will reveal the historical evolution of one of the island's most emblematic villages, combining cultural heritage and landscape.
The Cultural Heritage Councillor, Rayco León, has emphasised that the aim of the programme is to bring the island's heritage closer to the public through interpreted tours. These routes seek to highlight the cultural and landscape richness of Fuerteventura, offering an educational experience and enjoyment of the territory.
Both routes will run from 09:00 to 13:00, with a medium level of difficulty and a maximum capacity of 25 people. Participation is free but requires prior registration through the website www.patrimoniofuerteventura.com. Registrations for the 'From the Castle to the Salinas' route are already available, while those for the El Cotillo route will open on 10th August.
The 'Landscapes with History' programme is part of the actions of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura to promote knowledge, conservation, and dissemination of the island's cultural heritage. Through these guided experiences, the aim is to bring the history and culture of Fuerteventura closer to residents and visitors, fostering respect for the heritage legacy.
