The Tenerife municipality will broadcast the programme on August 2 at the Municipal Sports Pavilion. 140 locals have already travelled to Madrid for the recording.
On August 2, San Juan de la Rambla will fully engage with the broadcast of 'Grand Prix del Verano', the contest by Televisión Española in which the municipality participates. The Town Hall has announced the installation of a giant screen at the Municipal Sports Pavilion so that residents and visitors can watch the competition live, starting at 20:00, against Quintanar del Rey (Cuenca).
The presence of the town in the programme has mobilised 140 locals, who travelled to Madrid to participate in the recording. Of these, 40 were part of the team of players and around a hundred filled the stands to cheer on the municipality during the trials.
The locality was selected from over a thousand applications to be one of the twelve participating municipalities in this edition, which represents significant national tourist and social promotion.
The Councillor for Sports and team captain, María García, encouraged citizens to share an experience she described as "unforgettable". "Now is the time to share that effort with the whole town. We want the Pavilion to become a meeting point where we can feel the excitement, camaraderie, and pride of having taken the name of our town to one of the most beloved television programmes," she stated.
The mayor, Juan Ramos, who also participated in one of the most emblematic trials of the contest, 'Hot Potato', emphasised that "regardless of the result, San Juan de la Rambla has already won". "Being chosen from over a thousand municipalities shows that our town has a lot to offer," he detailed. "This participation has helped to strengthen the bond among our residents, project a very positive image of the municipality throughout Spain, and generate tourist promotion that would be very difficult to achieve by other means. We invite everyone to join us this Sunday to relive an experience that is already part of the recent history of San Juan de la Rambla," he added.
The event on August 2 at the Municipal Sports Pavilion promises to be a festive occasion for the municipality, which will see its participation reflected in the nationally broadcast programme. Entry will be free, and a large turnout is expected to support the local representatives.
