The annual report of the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife reflects a 5.71% increase in services requested by citizens, with 86,019 calls attended and 354 arrests.
The Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife presented its activity report for 2025 this Wednesday, an 80-page document revealing a sustained increase in services demanded by the residents of the Tenerife capital. In total, officers attended to 86,019 calls through 092, averaging 235 communications daily and a 5.71% increase compared to the previous year.
The balance, announced at the capital's Town Hall by local authorities and police commanders, highlights the reinforcement of road safety as one of the main focuses of police work. During the past year, 328 crimes against road safety were recorded, 974 traffic accidents were attended, and the speed of 76,060 vehicles was monitored. Additionally, in the alcohol and drug surveillance campaigns promoted by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), 17 cases of positive alcohol tests with criminal rates and 22 of an administrative nature were recorded.
In terms of arrests, officers made 354 arrests throughout 2025. Of these, 60 were related to the protection of minors, representing 17% of the total; 58 were for cases of gender violence (16%); and 51 were carried out in compliance with court orders. These figures reflect the work of specialized units such as the Minors Unit Attached to the Prosecutor's Office (UMAF) and the Women's Assistance Group (GRAMU).
The report also highlights the preventive and educational work of the force. A total of 13,441 minors from Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education participated in the educational activities organized by the Local Police, a figure that underscores the commitment to training in road safety from an early age.
Regarding human resources, the staff of the Local Police of Santa Cruz consists of 345 members, of which 13.33% are women. The average age of the officers is 46.4 years. Of the total, 308 are police officers and 37 are part of the command staff, representing 10.72% of the total.
The police fleet consists of 89 vehicles of various types, including 26 patrol cars and 27 motorcycles, as well as plainclothes patrols and vans for specialized services. In terms of equipment, officers have 516 standard weapons, 300 bulletproof vests, trauma vests, riot shields, intervention helmets, and other defensive means. They have also been equipped with 330 portable radios, 83 integrated into vehicles, and 150 corporate mobile phones that allow access to police applications and databases from the street. In the preventive area, there are 32 defibrillators and 67 first aid kits.
The Communications Room, which manages 092, has been the nerve centre of police activity, with an average of 235 calls daily. Each generates a flow of tasks that officers resolve with the support of new technologies. The report emphasizes that much of the street work is now carried out through mobile devices, facilitating immediate access to information.
The document also analyses the performance of the five Operational Units and administrative services, highlighting the strengthening of collaboration with the Prosecutor's Office and other judicial bodies. The Local Police of Santa Cruz thus consolidates itself as a versatile force, with an active presence in prevention, road safety, and attention to the most vulnerable groups.
