The twentieth edition of TLP Tenerife began this Tuesday with the opening of the LAN Party area at the Santa Cruz Fairgrounds, hosting 1,200 participants over six days. The Summer-Con area will open to the public on Wednesday.

The Santa Cruz Fairgrounds in Tenerife has become the epicentre of digital entertainment with the launch of the 20th edition of TLP Tenerife. The LAN Party area, which operates 24 hours a day, brings together 1,200 participants for six days, a figure that multiplies by four the 300 attendees of its first edition two decades ago.

Attending the opening ceremony were the president of the Tenerife Cabildo, Rosa Dávila; the island councillor for Innovation, Juan José Martínez; the councillor for Industry, Manuel Fernández; the general director of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries of the Canary Government, Cristóbal de la Rosa; and the mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez.

An organisation that grows with the event

The director of TLP Tenerife, Idaira Febles, explained that a large part of the current team started as participants about a decade ago. "We try to give back all the good that the event has brought us," she said. The LAN Party opened its doors at 12:00 PM and some attendees waited from the early morning to enter.

The event, sponsored by the Tenerife Cabildo through the Tenerife Scientific and Technological Park, has established itself as a national benchmark for digital entertainment. The president of the Cabildo highlighted that "it has been 20 years proving that the talent of our youth knows no bounds when given opportunities to develop."

Video games, retro culture, and great guests

The programme includes current titles such as Valorant and Mario Kart World, alongside retro arcade machines, Japanese culture, manga, cosplay, and K-Pop. Among the guests are the creator of Candy Candy, Yumiko Igarashi; content creators Luzu, Agustin51, aXoZer, and Mayichi.

The professional section TLP Innova will feature the first Spanish animator at Walt Disney, Raúl García, who will give a talk on animation direction, and animator Jordi Grangel, in a day of creative meetings focused on the audiovisual industry.

The Summer-Con area, open to the general public from this Wednesday, will allow visitors to enjoy activities without needing to be participants of the LAN Party. TLP Tenerife 2026 will take place from July 14 to 19 at the Santa Cruz Fairgrounds, with free entry to the exhibition area and parallel activities.
