The yellow alert for coastal phenomena activated by AEMET in part of the province does not affect the capital of Gran Canaria, where Monday will be marked by very cloudy skies and temperatures between 23 and 27 degrees.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated a yellow alert for coastal phenomena on Monday in several areas of the province of Las Palmas, but the capital of Gran Canaria is exempt from the warning. Residents of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will wake up to overcast skies and this will continue for much of the day, with abundant clouds until the afternoon and overcast conditions by nightfall.
Temperatures will remain very similar to those of Sunday, with minimums of 23 degrees and maximums of 27. The maximum thermal sensation will reach 28 degrees, according to AEMET data. Winds will blow from the north, which will soften the atmosphere during the central hours of the day.
No risks on the capital's coast
The yellow alert, which does affect other areas of the province, does not include the municipality of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This means that Monday will pass without incidents on the capital's coastline, where swimming and nautical activities can be carried out normally. However, AEMET recommends checking updates in case of changes.
The north wind will be the main feature throughout the day, with moderate gusts that will refresh the atmosphere, especially in coastal areas. Those planning to go for a walk or do outdoor sports will find a pleasant day, although with mostly overcast skies.
Cloudy conditions will continue on Tuesday
Looking ahead to Tuesday, the forecast indicates a very cloudy day from the early hours. Temperatures will not vary: again between 23 and 27 degrees, with winds from the north. Thermometers will remain stable, with no significant changes compared to Monday.
On Wednesday, however, the skies will begin to clear. From dawn, clouds will dominate giving way to a mostly clear panorama in the second half of the day. Temperatures will drop slightly, with minimums of 22 and maximums of 26 degrees. Winds will continue to blow from the north, but with less intensity.
The weather in other municipalities of Gran Canaria
In Telde, Monday will present partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 21 and 28 degrees. In Santa Lucía de Tirajana, the day will be clear, with values ranging from 23 to 33 degrees, making it the warmest municipality on the island for this day.
For residents in the capital, the forecast invites to enjoy a Monday without meteorological surprises, with typically summery weather but without the rigours of extreme heat or the risk of waves. A day to plan outdoor activities with the confidence that, at least for now, the yellow alert remains outside the city.
