The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has completed the rehabilitation works of walls and public spaces on Severo Ochoa, Marie Curie and Miguel Ángel de Asturias streets, in the El Batán neighbourhood.
The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, through the Department of Roads, Works and Lighting, has concluded the urban environment improvement works in the El Batán neighbourhood. The intervention focused on Severo Ochoa, Marie Curie and Miguel Ángel de Asturias streets, where walls and public spaces have been rehabilitated to enhance the conservation and image of an area with high community traffic.
The works included cleaning, conditioning and beautification tasks, as well as the rendering of approximately 1,125 square metres of surfaces and the painting of over 3,185 square metres of vertical surfaces and other urban elements. Additionally, sanding and painting of railings has been carried out, aiming to improve the safety and aesthetics of the environment.
The Councillor for Roads, Works and Lighting, Carlos Díaz, highlighted that this action contributes to improving the image of heavily trafficked spaces, recovering environments that required intervention to strengthen their conservation and integration into the urban landscape of the neighbourhood. “We continue to work to ensure that neighbourhoods have more cared-for, accessible and pleasant public spaces,” he added.
The intervention has involved the renewal of various urban elements affected by the passage of time and continuous use. With this action, the City Council aims to enhance this environment for the enjoyment of residents, improving the quality of public space and promoting a more cared-for image of the neighbourhood.
This work is part of a municipal plan for the improvement of neighbourhoods in the capital of Gran Canaria. El Batán, a residential area with numerous services, now benefits from more comfortable and accessible spaces, which directly impacts the quality of life of its residents.
The works have been carried out by local companies contracted by the council, generating employment in the municipality. The budget allocated for this intervention has not been detailed, but it falls within the annual urban maintenance allocations.
With this rehabilitation, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria takes another step in its commitment to maintain and beautify public spaces across all districts. New actions in other neighbourhoods of the city are expected to be announced soon.
