The Puerto de Vueltas, in Valle Gran Rey, hosted the second edition of the runway 'La Gomera, Fashion and Magic', featuring nearly twenty brands and the presentation of the programme 'La Gomera, Fashion and Commerce'.

Last Saturday, the Puerto de Vueltas in Valle Gran Rey became the epicentre of island fashion with the celebration of the second edition of the runway 'La Gomera, Fashion and Magic'. The Cabildo of La Gomera promotes this initiative to highlight the creative talent of the island, facilitate the marketing of its products, and strengthen the professionalisation of the textile sector.

A thirty-metre-long runway served as the stage for nearly twenty brands to showcase their proposals for the upcoming season. The landscape of Valle Gran Rey and the natural richness of the surroundings acted as a backdrop for a show that combined design, identity, sustainability, and economic promotion.

The island's Councillor for Tourism, Commerce, and Consumption, María Isabel Méndez, highlighted that this second edition allows for the continued consolidation of the 'La Gomera, Fashion and Magic' brand and projects the work of professionals and entrepreneurs linked to the textile and creative fields. “This project offers new opportunities for local creators to showcase their work both within and outside of the Canary Islands and to establish links with other professionals in the sector,” she stated.

Méndez also emphasised the capacity of such actions to generate experiences linked to the destination. “Holding the runway in a unique space like the Puerto de Vueltas has allowed us to combine the promotion of fashion with the dissemination of La Gomera's tourist image, showcasing the territory as a source of inspiration and a stage for creativity,” she pointed out.

Under the direction of Edgar Magdalena, the show brought together designers and companies that were already part of the programme or that have joined after months of training, advice, and work to develop their brands and collections. Among the participating brands were Ananas Wear, by the Gomero designer Javier Aguilar; Machanga by Yess; Puro Pellejo and Artesanía Zapatita, by Yanira Rodríguez and Daniel Roldán; Sofía Figueredo Joyería de Autor; Mycelium by Titane Ide; Yow Alma Libre, by Judith Pascual; Alhaja Art Couture, by Beatriz Fernández; Deniz Gul Pasotti; !Ajó¡ by Elena Mesa; Cas Cas; Amalgama Viva, by Elisa Barroso; Savitri, by Sonia Medina Upyciclyng; Aracne, by Ana Cristina; Haridian Padilla; and FILST, by Diego Barroso.

This second edition also featured the Tenerife Moda programme as a guest, with the participation of the brand Arena Negra Swimwear and the finalist of the XV edition of the Tenerife Moda Young Designers Contest, Yusef Perdomo.

The day also served to present 'La Gomera, Fashion and Commerce', a new commercial promotion action developed with the support of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Chamber of Commerce delegation on the island. The initiative connects designers affiliated with 'La Gomera, Fashion and Magic' with the local socioeconomic fabric through a system of collaboration and sponsorship.

A dozen establishments will distribute and market the creations of the participating brands at permanent sales points identified with the project's brand. This model will bring the garments and accessories showcased on the runway closer to consumers, transferring the proposals from the exhibition space to the island's establishments. The system is inspired by the international concept 'See now, buy now', which facilitates the purchase of designs after their public presentation.

The initiative will feature audiovisual content and social media dissemination actions aimed at identifying each designer and promoting the associated businesses. This seeks to strengthen local commerce, favour local distribution, and create stable relationships between creators, establishments, and customers. In this way, the collections are not limited to their exhibition on the runway but are incorporated into the real economic activity of La Gomera. The project remains open to the inclusion of new designers and commercial collaborators.

For the residents of La Gomera, this initiative represents an opportunity to access local designs in island shops, supporting the circular economy and island talent. The collections will be available in the participating shops over the coming weeks, as reported by the Cabildo.
