A woman has been seriously injured after overturning at the intersection of the LZ-501 and LZ-502 roads in La Asomada, Tías. The accident occurred on Monday afternoon.

A 45-year-old woman was seriously injured on Monday after her vehicle overturned at the confluence of the LZ-501 and LZ-502 roads in the locality of La Asomada, in the municipality of Tías, Lanzarote. The incident took place shortly after two in the afternoon, according to the Coordinating Centre for Emergencies and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands.

The victim suffered severe polytrauma, according to the initial assessment by the health services. The vehicle had come to rest on its side after leaving the road from an approximate height of three metres, leaving the driver trapped inside.

Emergency services from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, a basic life support ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), and Civil Guard agents were dispatched to the scene. The firefighters stabilised the vehicle and prepared an extraction route through the rear door, without the need for rescue tools, as detailed in the Consortium's report.

Once freed, the woman was treated and stabilised at the scene by the SUC medical team, which coordinated with the firefighters. She was then transported in a medicalised ambulance to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife, where she was admitted in serious condition.

The Civil Guard is responsible for conducting the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident. Authorities remind the importance of exercising caution at intersections and secondary roads on the island, especially in areas like La Asomada, where off-road incidents occur with some frequency.

This incident adds to other accidents that have occurred in recent weeks in Lanzarote, highlighting the need for responsible driving and adherence to speed limits. The condition of the road and the weather conditions at the time of the incident have not been specified by official sources.
