The Lanzarote guard Carolina Mateo will continue to wear the Magec Tías Lanzarote Against Gender Violence jersey next season in Liga Femenina 2, after the club announced her renewal.
CD Magec Tías is continuing to shape its squad for the 2026/2027 season in Liga Femenina 2. After securing the continuity of captain Yaiza García, the red and black club has confirmed the renewal of Carolina Mateo, one of its most emblematic players.
The guard, born in Lanzarote, thus becomes the second confirmed piece of the project that will be led by Màrius Bonjorn, who took over the bench this season. The club is committed to maintaining the core of a squad that combines local identity, experience, and commitment.
Carolina Mateo is a product of the Magec Tías youth system. She developed in the club's lower categories and completed her training stage at Segle XXI, the programme of the Spanish Basketball Federation, where she made her debut in Liga Femenina 2 at just 17 years old.
After a brief stint with Basket Ibaizabal, she returned home in December 2018. Since then, her growth has been linked to the red and black team, becoming a reference both on and off the court. Not only for her numbers but also for her work ethic, daily involvement, and support for younger teammates.
In the past season, Mateo played 26 games with an average of nearly 28 minutes per match. Her stats include 303 points, 141 rebounds, and 66 assists, with a cumulative valuation of 214 credits, figures that reflect her influence in all facets of the game.
With this renewal, the guard will face her ninth season defending the Magec Tías Lanzarote Against Gender Violence jersey in Liga Femenina 2. A journey that positions her as one of the players with the greatest weight in the club's recent history.
CD Magec Tías continues to advance in the planning of the new campaign. So far, the configuration of the sports project for 2026/2027 includes coach Màrius Bonjorn and the renewals of Yaiza García and Carolina Mateo.
In the coming days, the club plans to announce new renewals and signings with the aim of assembling a competitive squad that allows them to face the upcoming season in Liga Femenina 2 with guarantees, maintaining the ambition and values that characterise the entity.
The Magec Tías fans can expect a team that maintains its backbone, with players who represent the identity of the club. The continuity of Carolina Mateo reinforces the commitment to local talent and the stability of the project.
