Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa will play its first pre-season match this Wednesday, July 29, against RCD Espanyol at the Municipal Stadium of Los Pozos (18:15 hours). The match is part of a stage in Fuerteventura sponsored by several institutions.
Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa faces its first pre-season test this Wednesday. The blue-and-white team will take on RCD Espanyol at the Municipal Stadium of Los Pozos in Puerto del Rosario, starting at 18:15 hours. The match is part of the training camp the Tenerife team is holding in Fuerteventura, where they are staying at the Coral Cotillo Beach Hotel.
The squad, led by coach José Herrera, completed its first day of training on the island on Tuesday. The stage, which will last until Saturday, includes training sessions and a football clinic organised by the Fundación Canaria Tenerife Costa Adeje. The blue-and-white expedition will then move to Lanzarote to compete in the San Ginés Tournament on August 1 against Sevilla FC.
The president of Tenerife Femenino, Sergio Batista, highlighted the significance of this friendly for the club and for women's football in Fuerteventura. "We aim for tomorrow's match to be just the seed for this event to continue in the future. We hope that the girls of Fuerteventura see themselves represented and enjoy top-level women's football," he stated during the presentation of the stage, held at the Coral Cotillo Beach Hotel.
The event was attended by local and island authorities. Lola García, president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, emphasised the importance of the match for the island. "I want to thank the institutions and businesses for making this happen. Thanks to the club, to the players for what they do, for being a reference for many girls," she noted. García expressed her hope that the tournament continues "so that all those girls and young women can keep enjoying you."
Isaí Blanco, mayor of La Oliva, celebrated the presence of two Primera División teams in the municipality. "For us, it is a pride to have two women's first division teams in the municipality, such as Tenerife Femenino and RCD Espanyol, as it aligns with the Town Hall's goal of continuing to promote the sporting talent of La Oliva," he indicated.
David de Vera, mayor of Puerto del Rosario, highlighted the commitment of the council in providing the municipal football field. "It is an honour for us to host a match of this significance in our municipality. Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa is a reference for all women's football teams in Fuerteventura," he affirmed.
Jacob Vásquez, island delegate of the Interinsular Football Federation of Las Palmas, reaffirmed the entity's support for the event. "We have high expectations. We have been working with both teams for months to ensure the tournament has a significant impact on the island," he explained.
The stage is sponsored by Coral Hotels, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, and the Canary Foundation of the Interinsular Football Federation of Las Palmas. Roberto Barreiro, general director of Coral Hotels, confirmed the entity's commitment to the blue-and-white expedition. "Our goal from the beginning was to bring Costa Adeje Tenerife to Fuerteventura. Focusing our social responsibility on sports is essential, and a clear example is the celebration of the first edition of this tournament and the football clinic," he assured.
The match against Espanyol will be the first pre-season test for Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa, which secured its place in Liga F last season. The Fuerteventura fans will have the opportunity to see players like María José Pérez, Patricia Gavira, or the newly signed Laura Ortega in action. The friendly match will serve for the coach to give minutes to all players and fine-tune preparations ahead of the league start.
After the stage in Fuerteventura, the team will move to Lanzarote to compete in the San Ginés Tournament on Saturday, August 1, at 17:30 hours at the Sports City of the island, against Sevilla FC, in an event organised in collaboration with the Arrecife Town Hall. This will be the second pre-season test before the start of Liga F Moeve, scheduled for late August.
Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa will conclude its concentration in Fuerteventura on Friday, after four days of intense work. The club hopes this stage will strengthen the group and create synergies with local grassroots football, especially through the football clinic that the players will conduct.
