Gran Canaria driver Antonio Estalella faces this weekend the second Tenerife event of the season of the Asphalt Rally Championship of the Canary Islands (CCRA) aboard his Toyota GR Yaris RZ.

The Rallye Ciudad de La Laguna will be the stage where Antonio Estalella attempts to consolidate his second place in the CCRA Category 2, which he climbed to after the Rallye Ciudad de Telde. The Gran Canaria driver, competing with the Toyota GR Yaris RZ, returns to the roads of Tenerife two months after his victory in the Rallye Villa de Adeje, where he triumphed in both the regional and national championships.

A car that is already a classic in Tenerife

Estalella's Toyota GR Yaris RZ has been the star this week at the facilities of Toyota Nivaria, one of the event's sponsors. The dealership has hosted the vehicle for a pre-inspection, and it has been displayed to customers as a showcase for the team. The car's presence at the Laguna dealership reinforces the bond between the team and the island.

Estalella, who is in his fifth season behind the wheel of the Toyota, has completed three participations in the Gran Canaria stages alongside his co-driver Pepo Batista. Together, they form a tandem that has already proven its reliability on the archipelago's roads, and now they face the second Tenerife event of the calendar before the summer break.

A demanding route of almost 88 timed kilometres

The twelfth edition of the Rallye Ciudad de La Laguna will kick off on Friday at 20:25 from Parking Las Quinteras, where the final closed park and trophy presentation will also be located. The first two stages, ‘Boquerón – Valle Guerra’ and ‘Tejina – El Socorro’, will be contested at night, adding an extra level of difficulty to the opening day.

On Saturday, the action will continue with two runs through ‘Villa de Tegueste’, ‘Valle de Guerra’, and ‘Tacoronte – El Rosario’, in addition to a special in ‘Candelaria’. In total, 87.80 timed kilometres will test the endurance of the drivers and the mechanics of their vehicles. The service park will be in Montaña Pacho, and the trophy presentation will take place from 19:00.

For Canary Island fans, the Rallye Ciudad de La Laguna is an unmissable event. The competition, which also hosts the pre-inspection for the CERA (Spanish Asphalt Rally Championship) for the first time, promises strong emotions on a route that combines night and day stages. The presence of Estalella, one of the archipelago's most prominent drivers, adds an extra incentive for motorsport followers in the Islands.
