Two teams from Lanzarote will compete this weekend in the XII Rallye Ciudad de La Laguna, which counts towards the Canary Islands Championship. Yeray Lemes, winner in 2024, returns with a new co-driver after his retirement in 2025.

The motorsport scene from Lanzarote is once again in the spotlight this weekend in Tenerife. Two representatives from the island, driver Yeray Lemes and co-driver Alejandro Bonilla, have signed up for the XII Rallye Ciudad de La Laguna – Trofeo Worten, a key event in the regional calendar that brings together 107 teams.

Lemes, with a new partner and a thirst for revenge

Yeray Lemes approaches the event with the number 2, accompanied by Aitor Cambeiro, a debutant in this race. The duo, at the wheel of a Citroën C3 Rally2 from the C.D. Todo Sport team, arrives after a third-place finish at the Rallye Ciudad de Telde, which gives them confidence. Lemes knows both extremes of this competition well: in 2024 he won alongside David Vázquez, while in 2025 he suffered an accident that forced him to retire.

For the Lanzarote driver, this edition marks the start of a new sporting chapter. His goal is to consolidate the understanding with Cambeiro and return to the podium. The event counts towards the Canary Islands Asphalt Rally Championship, the Clio Cup, and the International Iberian Rallye Trophy, and is still under observation for integration into the Spanish Championship.

Bonilla, another experienced presence

Co-driver Alejandro Bonilla completes the Lanzarote representation. He will compete with the number 52 alongside Jonathan Barreto in a Ford Fiesta R2T from the Escudería La Palma Isla Bonita. Bonilla participated in the previous edition, where he teamed up with José Vicente Luis in a Renault Clio Rally5. On that occasion, after a good start, they suffered a setback that forced them to resort to the Super Rallye system, finishing in 73rd place.

Now, with Barreto, he seeks a solid performance without surprises. The experience gained in this event gives him an advantage to tackle the stages with greater knowledge.

Schedule and route of the event

The activity kicks off on Friday with technical verifications at Parking Las Quinteras at 14:00 hours. The start ceremony will take place at 20:25, followed by the first two night specials: 'El Boquerón – Valle de Guerra' (7.67 km) at 21:30 and 'Tejina – El Socorro' (4.7 km) at 22:00.

Saturday, a decisive day, consists of seven timed stages. Participants will complete two runs of 'Villa de Tegueste' (10.2 km), 'Valle de Guerra' (14.93 km), and 'Tacoronte – El Rosario' (8.4 km), as well as a special in 'Candelaria' (8.37 km). The trophy presentation is scheduled for 19:00 hours at the same Parking Las Quinteras.

For Lanzarote fans, the event offers the opportunity to follow two teams from the island in a high-level competition. Yeray Lemes aims to repeat victory, while Alejandro Bonilla bets on consistency. The Rallye Ciudad de La Laguna continues to gain prestige and, who knows, it may soon be part of the national circuit.
