The Pájara City Council has begun the installation of 75 solar streetlights in Esquinzo, with an investment of €58,768, to improve lighting and energy efficiency.
The Pájara City Council has initiated the installation of 75 solar-powered streetlights in the Esquinzo area, a project with a budget of €58,768 aimed at enhancing lighting and safety in the locality. The works, which are already underway, are part of the commitments made by the governing group with the residents of the municipality.
The mayor of Pájara, Alejandro Jorge, the first deputy mayor, Alexis Alonso, and the councillor for Energy and Public Lighting, José Díaz, visited the area to supervise the progress of the works. During the tour, the municipal representatives highlighted that this initiative responds to a community demand and is part of the Council's commitment to renewable energies.
José Díaz, councillor for Energy and Industry, explained that the project is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by Next Generation funds, and the Lighting Plan in Tourist Environments. “The Council continues to bet on the incorporation of renewable energies in municipal infrastructures with actions that improve public services and promote a more sustainable model for the municipality,” he stated.
For his part, Alexis Alonso, councillor for Urban Planning, indicated that the Technical Office has promoted this project in collaboration with the Councils of Works and Industry. “It will improve energy efficiency and allow us to continue advancing and improving in our municipality,” he affirmed.
The mayor, Alejandro Jorge, recalled that the action is the result of dialogue with the residents of Esquinzo. “When we met with the residents of Esquinzo, we conveyed our commitment to continue promoting improvements in the locality, and this action is a demonstration of that. We will continue working to meet their needs and further improve the public spaces of the municipality,” he declared.
The solar streetlights will be distributed in various points of the urban area, aiming to increase safety and visibility in streets and common spaces. The investment is covered by the Tourism Department of the Pájara City Council and adds to other municipal actions to modernize infrastructures with sustainability criteria.
The project will not only reduce energy consumption but will also result in savings on the municipal electricity bill. The streetlights, operating on solar energy, do not require connection to the electrical grid, making their installation easier in hard-to-reach areas.
The residents of Esquinzo have positively valued the initiative, which they consider necessary to improve the quality of life in the locality. The expectation is that the works will be completed in the coming weeks, once the installation of all the lights is finished.
This action is part of a broader strategy by the Pájara City Council to extend the use of clean energies in the municipality. In recent months, solar panels have been installed on several public buildings, and traditional lighting has been replaced with LED in other localities.
The mayor announced that the Council will continue investing in similar improvements in other areas of the municipality, in order to move towards a more efficient and environmentally friendly model.
