The Las Palmas Motorsport Federation awarded prizes to the best drivers and co-drivers of the 2025 season at the Insular Youth Centre in Puerto del Rosario.

The 2025 season of Majorero motorsport is now history. The Fuerteventura Champions Gala, organised by the Las Palmas Motorsport Federation (FALP), brought together drivers, co-drivers, and authorities last Friday at the Insular Youth Centre in Puerto del Rosario to recognise the most outstanding athletes of the year.

Acknowledgements to the Island Champions

More than a dozen drivers and co-drivers received their trophies in a ceremony that reviewed the main championships held. The awards began with the winners of the single-seater category of the Inter-Island Slalom Championship of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, a newly created competition, and concluded with the Island Slalom Championship of Fuerteventura.

One of the most talked-about moments was the tie in the touring cars category of the island championship, where the top two finishers ended up tied on points. This reflects the very high competitive level that has characterised the season, as agreed by the attendees.

National and International Projection

The gala also served to highlight the Majorero teams competing outside the islands. Daniel Pérez and Alain González shared their experiences in the Sandero Eco Cup Spain, a national single-brand championship, while Virginia de León explained her adaptation to the Toyota Yaris Rally5-Kit with which she participates in the Kobe Motor Rallys Cup, one of the most relevant promotional formulas in the Spanish landscape.

The president of the FALP, Dani Ponce, highlighted Fuerteventura's role in Canary Island motorsport. “The island continues to demonstrate the potential of its talent pool,” he stated, emphasising the commitment of drivers, co-drivers, teams, and clubs throughout the season.

Also speaking at the event were the president of the Canary Islands Motorsport Federation, Miguel Ángel Domínguez, and the Sports Councillor of the Fuerteventura Cabildo, Luis González, who agreed on the growth of motorsport on the island.

Upcoming Events: Betancuria and La Oliva Rally

The gala not only closed the 2025 season but also allowed a look ahead to the 2026 season, which will kick off in just a few weeks with the 13th Betancuria Hill Climb, one of the most representative events of the specialty on the island. Majorero fans have already marked this date in red, which each year attracts a large audience to the roads of the municipality.

Another major expectation is the 37th La Oliva Rally, which will gain international status by joining the calendar. This news excites local drivers, who will be able to compete against competitors from outside the islands without leaving home.

For motor enthusiasts, the 2026 season promises strong emotions. The Betancuria Hill Climb will be the first test for Majorero drivers, who are already revving their engines.
