The IV Telde Film Festival moves its 'Telde Rueda en 7 Días' marathon to the Plaza de San Juan, due to massive participation. Documentaries and experimental films will be shown on July 17.

The Telde City Council has announced the relocation of the film marathon 'Telde Rueda en 7 Días' to the Plaza de San Juan, a decision motivated by the record participation recorded in this fourth edition of the festival. Initially planned for Plaza de San Gregorio, the change aims to provide a larger and more suitable space for both teams and the audience.

More Space for Local Talent

The Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Juan Martel, explained that the high response necessitated relocating the event to ensure the proper development of activities. “The extraordinary response that the Telde Film Festival is receiving demonstrates the growing interest in this cultural initiative,” he stated. The new location will better accommodate participants and attendees, reinforcing one of the festival's most prominent proposals.

As a new feature of this edition, documentary short films and experimental works will be screened on July 17, at 18:00, in the Plaza de San Juan. These productions will also compete for the Audience Award, allowing attendees to participate with their votes in choosing their favourite work.

A Festival That Grows and Consolidates

Martel added that “we continue to work to establish this festival as a benchmark in the audiovisual sector in the Canary Islands, offering quality programming and creating spaces that encourage participation, creativity, and interaction among professionals, enthusiasts, and the public.” The Telde City Council thus reaffirms its commitment to a festival that continues to establish itself as a key event for the audiovisual sector in the Islands, promoting talent and projecting the municipality as an ideal setting for cultural creation and dissemination.

For the residents of Telde, this change represents an opportunity to enjoy cinema in a larger and more accessible environment. The Plaza de San Juan, with its greater capacity, will facilitate attendance and enhance the audience's experience. Additionally, the public vote adds an incentive for attendees to actively engage in the festival.

The 'Telde Rueda en 7 Días' marathon is one of the festival's star activities, where local teams compete to create short films in just one week. This year's edition has broken registration records, prompting the change of venue. The councillor highlighted that “the response from participants has been so good that we needed a space that matched their expectations.”

The festival, which takes place from July 10 to 19, also includes workshops, talks, and screenings in other venues across the municipality. The complete programme can be consulted on the Telde City Council website. With this relocation, the council hopes that the event will continue to grow and attract more audiences, consolidating Telde as an audiovisual hub in the Canary Islands.
