The Teror Town Hall has decided to keep the Recreational Area of Los Granadillos closed throughout the weekend, a measure that will be applied on Saturday and Sunday, August 1 and 2, in response to the alert for the risk of forest fires and the high temperatures expected in the coming days in Gran Canaria.
The decision, made based on prevention and safety criteria, implies the temporary suspension of the use of the recreational area while these circumstances persist. The council has called on the public to exercise caution and avoid outdoor activities in areas exposed to solar radiation.
The closure also affects other municipal infrastructures. The Town Hall recommends not using parks with outdoor recreational areas, such as José Hernández Park, or squares and children's parks that are directly exposed to the sun during the hottest hours of the day.
The alert is not exclusive to Teror. The Cabildo of Gran Canaria activated the alert for the risk of forest fires and high temperatures across the island from 11:00 am on Thursday, July 30, especially above the 400-meter mark. This situation has also led to the closure of the Finca de Osorio in the municipality of Valleseco as a preventive measure.
