The Teror Business Association (ASETEROR) awarded the prizes for the tapas route ‘United by Flavour’ this week, held at the I Chorizo Fair. The first prize went to the savoury tartlet from ‘El Rincón de Marcos’.
The establishment ‘El Rincón de Marcos’ has won the first prize in the gastronomic route ‘United by Flavour’, organised by the Teror Business Association (ASETEROR) as part of the I Chorizo Fair in Teror. Their entry, a ‘Savoury tartlet with soft cheese cream and frozen Teror chorizo’, impressed the judges in a competition that took place from July 11 to 19.
The second prize went to ‘Molto Jilorio’, which presented an original focaccia named ‘A pulpiar a la MARiana’. The third place was awarded to ‘Majocaya’, with their exquisite ‘Teror chorizo croquettes’, and the fourth to ‘Made in Teror’, which offered a skewer of ‘Tortilla with Teror chorizo alioli’.
The gastronomic route ‘United by Flavour’ allowed attendees to taste tapas and snacks at various establishments in the municipality for prices ranging from 3 to 5 euros, including a drink. In addition to the winners, ‘La Gaveta De Cristo’, ‘Bar Diego’, and other local venues participated in the initiative.
Professional chef Filipe Melo was responsible for evaluating the dishes in this tapas and skewer route, which has established itself as one of the attractions of the Chorizo Fair in Teror. Economic dynamism and local hospitality were the focal points of this gastronomic competition, which aims to highlight the star product of Teror's gastronomy: the Teror chorizo.
The event was organised by ASETEROR, in collaboration with the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, the Teror City Council, Clipper, and Aguas de Teror, and was funded by the Gran Canaria Cabildo through the ‘Gran Canaria Me Gusta’ brand. This initiative aims to pay tribute to the Teror chorizo, a hallmark of local gastronomy.
The participating establishments positively valued the reception of the route, which attracted numerous visitors during the nine days of the fair. The combination of tradition and innovation in culinary proposals was one of the keys to success, as highlighted by ASETEROR.
The I Chorizo Fair in Teror was held as an event for economic and tourist promotion, and the gastronomic route ‘United by Flavour’ has become a much-anticipated event for lovers of local gastronomy. The prizes awarded this week represent recognition of the efforts of hospitality professionals to offer original creations with Teror chorizo as the main ingredient.
For the residents of Teror and visitors, this route has provided an opportunity to discover new ways to enjoy local chorizo, beyond its traditional consumption. Public-private collaboration has been essential for the development of this initiative, which is shaping up to be a benchmark in the gastronomic calendar of the region.
ASETEROR is already working on the next edition, aiming to increase participation and continue promoting local hospitality as the economic engine of the municipality. The date for the next fair has yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to take place again in July 2027.
