The City Council of Santa Cruz de La Palma has received a perfect score of 10 out of 10 in the Canary Islands Transparency Index (ITCanarias) for 2025, according to the report from the Canary Islands Transparency Commissioner.

This has been communicated by the council itself in a press release, highlighting that this result represents "the highest possible rating" in the aforementioned index.
The report details that the council has obtained a score of 9.50 out of 10 in the Active Advertising Compliance Indicator (ICPA), a 6.52 out of 7 in the Mandatory Information Compliance Indicator (ICIO), a 2.98 out of 3 in the Web Support Compliance Indicator (ICS), and a 0.70 out of 1 in the Voluntary Transparency Indicator (ITV). These figures reflect a thorough compliance with legal requirements and best practices in transparency.
The mayor of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Asier Antona, has valued this result as "a recognition of the serious and constant work being done by the City Council to provide a more open, close, and transparent administration." In his statements, Antona emphasized that "achieving a 10 in transparency is not a goal, but a responsibility. It means we are facilitating access to public information for citizens and reinforcing trust in institutions through management based on accountability and good governance."
The mayor added that this result "is the fruit of the coordinated effort of various municipal services to keep the Transparency Portal updated and to comply with the obligations established by current legislation." In this regard, he insisted that "we want every resident to easily know how their City Council works, how public resources are managed, and what decisions are made. Transparency is an essential tool for strengthening democracy and improving the quality of public services."
For his part, the councillor for Finance, Juan Guerra, has highlighted the technical work developed in recent months to consolidate a complete, updated, and accessible Transparency Portal for all citizens. "This 10 is the result of constant and rigorous work by public employees and the different municipal departments, who have made transparency a priority in daily management. It is not just about fulfilling a legal obligation, but about offering citizens a more open, close, and reliable administration," he stated.
The evaluation by the Canary Islands Transparency Commissioner measures the degree of compliance with obligations for active advertising, mandatory information, web support, and voluntary transparency. Achieving the highest score positions Santa Cruz de La Palma as a benchmark in this area within the autonomous community. For residents, this translates into easier access to data such as budgets, contracts, grants, or remuneration of public officials, all available on the municipal portal.
The City Council has reminded that the Transparency Portal is updated periodically and that any citizen can consult it to learn about municipal management.
