The municipality of Tinajo will host the San Roque Festival from August 6 to 21, featuring a programme that includes a proclamation, pilgrimage, concerts, and activities for all ages.
The Tinajo Town Hall has announced the full programme for the San Roque Festival 2026, which will take place from August 6 to 21. The Events Department has designed a calendar of activities for all tastes and ages, with special attention to music, sports, and traditions.
The festivities will kick off on Thursday, August 6, with the reading of the proclamation by Benedicto Cabrera Tejera, a specialist in Agriculture and Pests. Following the proclamation, timplista Alexis Lemes, guitarist Adrián Níz, and soloist Almudena Hernández will perform, and the night will conclude with a concert by Grupo Alegranza at the ventorillo in Plaza de San Roque.
One of the main days will be Saturday, August 8, with the traditional Harvest Pilgrimage, featuring the performance of Parranda Pal Porrón. The day will include the traditional grape treading, a Eucharist at 19:30, and performances by various parrandas: Los Labradores, Pal Porrón, Los Gurfines Son Del Puerto, Aldaba, and Son de Mar. Additionally, in the afternoon, the regrouping of the XXVIII Rallye Isla de los Volcanes, part of the Spanish Championship, will take place in the Plaza de San Roque.
Sunday, August 16, the feast day of San Roque, will be the main day. At 18:00, a solemn Eucharist and procession will be held, presided over by Cristóbal Déniz Hernández, auxiliary bishop of the diocese. The procession will be accompanied by the Tinajo Music School and the Peña de San Roque band. The day will conclude with Acatife and a performance by comedian Kike Pérez at the Social Hall of Tinajo.
Music holds a prominent place in the programme. On Monday, August 10, the musical 'Ready For The Ride' will be performed by The Infinity Dream Events at the Social Hall of Tinajo. On Wednesday, August 12, the Municipal Theatre of Tinajo will host the play 'El apagón'. Thursday, August 13, will feature the polka battle, and Friday, August 14, will include a concert by K-NARIAS and a performance by Toti Sanz. On Saturday, August 15, the XXV AMC Timbayba Festival '40 years in the sun' will take place at the Social Hall of Tinajo at 20:30.
For the little ones, there will be children's and youth workshops, inflatable bouncers, and the Children's Play Back, which will take place on Sunday, August 9, at the Social Hall of Tinajo. Adults can participate in workshops on crafts, a dessert and liqueur contest, macramé, and self-makeup. On Friday, August 7, at 17:00, a children's and family windmill workshop will be held in Plaza de San Roque.
Sports also have their place. On Saturday, August 8, at 17:00, a veterans match will be held between the Club Deportivo Tinajo and Amigos Hermanos Morales against the Association of Former Players of UD Lanzarote. Additionally, on Saturday, August 15, there will be a zumba session.
The Councillor for Events, Jonatan Pérez Olivero, has invited residents and visitors to enjoy these festivities, which feature a very varied programme for the whole family. For his part, the mayor, Jesús Machín, expressed his hope that everyone can enjoy the celebrations in honour of San Roque and encouraged participation in them.
The programme also includes religious events, such as the Eucharists at the Ermita de los Dolores on Sunday, August 9, and the intergenerational discussion 'Memories of the Volcano' on Friday, August 7, in Plaza de San Roque, in collaboration with the Timanfaya National Park.
The San Roque Festival in Tinajo thus establishes itself as an unmissable summer event in Lanzarote, combining tradition, culture, music, and leisure for all audiences.
