The venue next to the Candelaria Town Hall hosted the Romera Dinner and the Magicians and Fishermen's Ball, with 5,000 attendees and 210 tables. The evening, without incidents, featured orchestras and a last-minute change in the musical lineup.
The mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito, described the event as "a gathering of the people of Candelaria with our traditions" and highlighted its family-friendly nature, with the presence of children, young people, and seniors. 5,000 people packed the venue next to the Town Hall, where 210 tables were set up for the romera dinner.
Music and festive atmosphere
The orchestras Son Sabor, Furia Joven (from Gran Canaria), and Revelación enlivened the evening, along with singer Manuel Dorta, who replaced Pepe Benavente, initially scheduled to perform. The change did not detract from a night that extended into the early hours.
The venue's decoration, inspired by Canarian popular culture, included scapulars of Santa Ana and the Virgin of Carmen, Canarian earrings, traditional boats, and figures in typical clothing. This effort was appreciated by attendees, according to municipal sources.
No significant incidents
The Local Police reported no significant incidents, allowing the celebration to proceed in a safe environment. Normality was the order of the day, something the mayor positively noted: "It is an event that unites us around our customs."
For the residents of Candelaria, this event is one of the most anticipated of the year. María, a local resident, commented: "We come every year with the family; it’s a magical night." The coexistence and deep-rootedness of Canarian traditions were the highlights.
Continuation of the festivities
The Festivities of Santa Ana and El Carmen continue this Sunday with the Football Fiesta, which will feature a giant screen broadcast of the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, starting at 20:00 hours in the Plaza de Santa Ana. The day will include musical entertainment from DJ Adri Coello.
Attendees of the ball are already eagerly awaiting the next edition, which promises to maintain the spirit of unity and tradition that characterises Candelaria. Meanwhile, the municipality continues to celebrate, with activities for all audiences.
