The Puntalarga Sports Pavilion hosts the extraction point from today until Wednesday, in the morning and afternoon.
The Canary Islands Health Service has installed a mobile blood donation unit at the Puntalarga Sports Pavilion in the municipality of Candelaria, Tenerife. The unit will be operational from today, Monday, until Wednesday, with hours from 10:15 to 13:45 and 17:00 to 20:30.
This initiative, promoted by the General Directorate of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy of the SCS, aims to bring donation closer to residents and avoid travel to fixed points on the island. According to sources from the organisation, the response from the public in similar campaigns has been positive, and it is expected to exceed 100 donations over the three days.
Fixed points in Tenerife
In addition to this temporary campaign, residents on the island can donate at the fixed point in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on Méndez Núñez street, from Monday to Friday from 9:15 to 20:15 (except holidays). The health centre in San Isidro, Granadilla de Abona, is also available, with hours from 10:00 to 13:30 and 14:15 to 19:30, and parking spaces reserved for donors.
In the hospital network, the University Hospital of the Canary Islands accepts walk-ins from Sunday to Friday and holidays from 8:30 to 21:30, and on Saturdays from 8:30 to 14:30 and 15:30 to 20:00. At the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital, the hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 20:00 and Saturdays from 9:00 to 13:00, except holidays.
Other centres and requirements
In northern Tenerife, donations can be made at Hospiten Bellevue (Puerto de la Cruz) by appointment by calling 922 385 235 (option 1), from Monday to Friday from 11:00 to 14:30. The San Juan de Dios Hospital, on the Santa Cruz-La Laguna road, is open Monday to Friday from 10:30 to 12:30.
To donate blood, the basic requirements are to be between 18 and 65 years old (up to 60 if it is the first donation), weigh more than 50 kilos, be in good health, and not be pregnant. For any questions, the SCS provides the free phone number 900 234 061 and the website efectodonacion.com.
The campaign in Candelaria represents an opportunity for residents in the southeast area, who often have to travel to the capital or Granadilla. With this mobile unit, donating becomes a quick and accessible gesture, ideal for those who want to help but do not have much time.
