The Tenerife Agroganadera Fair (Fagate) 2026 was inaugurated this Friday in La Laguna with over a hundred proposals including exhibitions, concerts, and training sessions.
The Tenerife Agroganadera Fair (Fagate) opened its doors this Friday at the Casa del Ganadero in La Laguna, with a programme that will extend throughout the weekend. The event, which celebrates its 2026 edition this year, brings together more than one hundred activities ranging from livestock exhibitions to concerts, as well as training workshops and themed markets.
Inauguration with institutional presence
The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, the President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, and the Councillor for Rural Development of La Laguna, Cristina Ledesma, among other authorities. Clavijo thanked those who keep the primary sector alive in the islands and highlighted La Laguna's role as the fair's venue.
“We can be proud of this fair, which is an opportunity to thank the people who work throughout the year to advance the primary sector, especially the livestock farmers,” said Rosa Dávila.
For her part, Cristina Ledesma emphasised that Fagate has established itself as the most important livestock fair in the Archipelago and one of the most relevant in Spain, adding value to the promotion of native breeds. The councillor also thanked the Tenerife Farmers' Association (Agate) for their support of this event.
Over a hundred activities for all audiences
The Fagate programme includes everything from pulling contests and breed exhibitions to masterclasses in cooking, ephemeral art, a gastro-market, and concerts. One of the highlights will be the performance by the Canary Islands group Achamán, which on July 19 at 15:00 will celebrate its 50 years of history with a review of its greatest hits.
Additionally, on Sunday the Pedro Molina award will be presented, which this year reaches its fourth edition and recognises Pilar Santana Hernández and Arsenio Pérez Díaz for their dedication to the primary sector. The invited island for this edition is La Gomera, which will have a special role in the fair.
Training for seniors in the municipality
As part of Fagate, the Economic and Social Forum of La Laguna organised a training day for seniors titled ‘La Laguna, seniors with much to live for’. About 300 people from the six districts participated in free workshops on folklore and the preparation of typical foods such as almogrote or gofio, promoting integration and well-being for this group.
The fair, held at the Casa del Ganadero (Camino de San Diego), will remain open throughout the weekend with continuous hours. Attendees can enjoy craft stalls, talks with experts, and equestrian shows, among many other proposals.
