The La Laguna City Council has reopened La Trinidad avenue to traffic after completing the improvement works on the pavement and sanitation facilities in two weeks, one week ahead of schedule.
The La Laguna City Council has reopened La Trinidad avenue, one of the main entry and exit routes to the city centre, after finishing the resurfacing and conditioning works. The project, carried out by the Department of Works, Infrastructure and Accessibility, was completed in two weeks, seven days ahead of the initially scheduled deadline.
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, highlighted the significant improvement this busy connection brings, used daily by vehicles of various weights and pedestrians. "This ambitious intervention plan has shortened the expected times and was completed in two weeks, seven days ahead of schedule," the mayor stated.
The works included the removal of the old asphalt layer in both directions of the road to apply a new surface layer, the reinforcement of several manhole covers, the restoration of drains, and the repair of small lateral sinkholes in the tram tunnel. According to the City Council, these actions aim to ensure road safety and prevent any future risks.
The councillor for Works, Ángel Chinea, explained that the works were planned to minimise inconvenience to residents, businesses, and drivers. To achieve this, they were divided into just over a week of daytime work and two days of night-time work. "The remaining days were dedicated to finishing touches on the roadway and the connections with the tram tracks, as well as the painting of horizontal signage," the councillor detailed.
The improvements were not limited to La Trinidad avenue but extended to cross streets such as Barcelona street. The City Council thanked the collaboration of businesses, entities such as underground car parks, the local health centre, Tram of Tenerife, and Titsa, as well as the understanding of the public during the traffic cuts and diversions implemented.
The complete reopening of the avenue is a relief for traffic in the centre of La Laguna, especially for drivers who use this route daily. With the completion of the works, normalcy is restored in a key artery for the municipality's mobility.
