The San Benito Tapas Route, held in La Laguna, has sold over 125,000 tapas in its first two weeks, generating an economic impact close to 500,000 euros.

The eighteenth edition of the San Benito Tapas Route, taking place in the historic centre of La Laguna, has reached record figures at its midpoint. According to data provided by the La Laguna City Council, through the Commerce department, over 125,000 tapas have been served during the first two weeks, resulting in an estimated business volume of nearly 500,000 euros.

The initiative, driven by the La Laguna Commercial Entrepreneurs Association (LLZC) in collaboration with the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (FAUCA), is supported by the local council. The acting councillor for Commerce, Fran Hernández, positively assessed the data and highlighted that "the excellent response from the public shows that the San Benito Tapas Route has established itself as one of the major events of the summer in La Laguna."

Hernández emphasised that, in addition to showcasing the talent of local hospitality, this initiative "generates economic activity, attracts visitors, and helps to energise commerce and life in the historic centre." The 47 participating establishments are the main beneficiaries of this economic boost, which strengthens the business fabric of the area.

The president of La Laguna Commercial Zone, Iván Pérez, noted that "these figures confirm that the Tapas Route continues to grow year after year and has become a very effective tool for boosting the activity of our establishments." Pérez added that "the quality of the culinary offerings and the involvement of the sector are proving crucial for the success of this edition and for further positioning La Laguna as a gastronomic reference."

The San Benito Tapas Route will remain active until July 31. During this time, participants can enjoy a tapa and a drink for a price of 4 euros. The public can also act as a popular jury through the La Laguna Commercial Zone app, where they can check the establishments, learn about the presented tapas, and cast their votes to choose the best proposals.

This edition consolidates the route as a key event for economic dynamism and the promotion of local dining during the summer season. The La Laguna City Council and the entrepreneurs' association hope that the figures will continue to rise in the final days of the campaign, surpassing the records of previous years.
