The City Council of La Laguna has begun this Friday the exams to fill 61 civil service positions, with over 6,500 registered candidates. The tests will continue after the summer, and the new appointments are expected to take place at the beginning of 2027.
The La Laguna Fairgrounds hosted this Friday, July 31, the first day of exams for the public call to fill 61 civil service positions in the City Council. More than 6,500 people have registered for a process aimed at strengthening the municipal workforce and filling vacancies through internal promotion and competitive exams.
The mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, wished good luck to all the candidates vying for positions in groups C1 and C2 and A1 and A2. As he explained, the goal is for the entire procedure to conclude by the end of this year, with new appointments becoming effective at the beginning of 2027.
The day was marked by an exceptional security device. From six in the morning, the exam materials were escorted by the Local Police to the venue, with the printed documents under a strict confidentiality contract. The sealed boxes, signed by supervisors, and the original digital versions were kept in a secured safe.
Additionally, during the test, signal jammers were installed in the venue to prevent any incidents. This measure reinforces the transparency of a process that the councillor for Presidency and Planning, Carla Cabrera, has described as historic, as the City Council had not conducted a call of this magnitude for career civil servants in over 20 years.
“The City Council had not conducted a call of this nature for career civil servants in over 20 years, which will allow us not only to fill the vacant positions and ensure a generational shift but also to have a large reserve list for any future appointments we may need due to any absences or specific needs,” Cabrera stated.
The councillor also highlighted the collaboration of a municipal worker from the Social Welfare Department, an expert in disability, who provided ongoing advice and support to candidates requiring specific adaptations. For this purpose, a dedicated space for disabled individuals was set up, ensuring personalized attention.
The accessibility measures included instructions in enlarged print, hearing protectors for those needing a quieter environment, adapted chairs, authorized time extensions, and any individualized adaptations necessary to ensure equal opportunities.
Of the 61 positions advertised, thirteen correspond to internal promotion for Group C1, with administrative positions. In the career civil servant section, eight positions for general administration technician (A1), five for management technician (A2), six for administrative personnel (C1), and 29 for administrative assistants (C2) are offered.
This call represents an important step for the municipality, which will be able to fill accumulated vacancies and prepare for generational change in local administration. For residents, this translates into improved municipal services, with a more stable and prepared workforce.
The next phase of the process, the practical sessions, will take place after the summer. The City Council has informed that the results of this first eliminatory test will be published in the coming days on the municipal electronic headquarters.
Candidates who pass this phase should stay alert for the dates of the upcoming exercises, which will be announced in advance through the official channels of the City Council. The expectation is that the entire process will be resolved by the end of the year.
With this initiative, La Laguna reinforces its commitment to public employment and the quality of its services, in a bid for stability and professionalism within its workforce.
