Parking de Lercaro will bring together a dozen Canary Island burger shops on August 7 and 8 for a free festival with live music and a best burger contest.
La Orotava is preparing to host a new edition of Burger Fest Canarias, a gastronomic and musical event taking place on August 7 and 8 at Parking de Lercaro. The event, which is free to enter, will gather some of the best burger shops in the archipelago, all committed to quality and local produce.
The mayor of La Orotava, Francisco Linares, highlighted during the event presentation that having an initiative of this magnitude is a great attraction for both locals and visitors. Linares emphasized that the festival combines new gastronomic trends with tradition and the promotion of zero-kilometre products.
The councillor for Commerce, Deisy Ramos, explained that Burger Fest Canarias is a proposal that energises the local economy, integrating gastronomy, leisure, and music in an environment designed for all audiences. “The City Council will continue to support initiatives that promote economic dynamism, boost commercial and hotel activity, and make La Orotava a benchmark for quality events,” she stated.
Bernardo Barreda, the festival organiser, detailed that during the two days, the public will be able to enjoy a wide gastronomic offer accompanied by a complete musical programme. The event will feature DJ sessions and live performances, creating a festive atmosphere for all ages. Barreda noted that Burger Fest Canarias is establishing itself as one of the major summer events in the Islands.
In this first edition in La Orotava, the best burger of the event will be chosen through a blind tasting contest. The prizes will be €500 for the winner, €300 for second place, and €150 for third. Additionally, there will be a €150 prize for the burger most voted by the public through the festival's platform. The winner of this edition will participate directly in the grand final to be held in 2027 at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife fairgrounds.
The musical programme will kick off on Friday, August 7, with sessions by Roger S Morgan from 18:00 to 21:00, followed by Juana La Cubana from 21:00 to 00:00. On Saturday, August 8, music will start at 14:00 with MCR Selector, performing until 18:00. This will be followed by Tana Sandoval (18:00-20:00), and then a live performance by Ni 1 Pelo de Tonto (20:00-21:30). The festival will close with a concert by La Maldita from 21:30 to 00:00.
As is customary at Burger Fest Canarias, the event will feature a vegan and 100% gluten-free area, a space dedicated to sweet treats, as well as a selection of craft and imported beers. This way, options are expanded for all attendees, ensuring an inclusive and varied experience.
Burger Fest Canarias La Orotava is supported by the La Orotava City Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, and Commerce of the Canary Islands, along with the collaboration of various entities and companies. The festival was born in 2019 and has accumulated over 30 editions, with nearly a million visitors since its inception, making it a gastronomic and leisure benchmark in the Archipelago.
Attendees will be able to taste burgers made with local and zero-kilometre products, supporting producers from local markets. The event will take place at Parking de Lercaro, a central and accessible space in La Orotava. Entry is free, so a large turnout is expected over both days.
