CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife has finalised the signing of Cuban international pivot Dianny González, ahead of their return to the Women's División de Honor Oro for the 2026/2027 season.
CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife continues to shape the squad with which it will face its return to the Women's División de Honor Oro. The sports management of San José Obrero has announced the signing of Cuban international pivot Dianny González, a player known for her defensive work and her ability to create spaces in attack.
Dianny Regla González Romero, 27 years old and 1.78 metres tall, plays as a pivot, a key position in both attack and defence. According to the club, the player is experienced in holding opposing defenders on the six-metre line, allowing her teammates to find gaps for shooting. Additionally, in defence, she acts as a central player, providing solidity to the block.
The new addition to the Lanzarote team has expressed excitement about the project. "I am very proud to represent this great team and I am eager to give my best in every match," González has declared. The pivot confessed that one of her dreams was to play in Spain: "As soon as the team offered me the chance to come and play, I felt super happy and proud."
González arrives from FC Matanza, where she has developed part of her career. She has also been an international player several times with the Cuban national team, with which she competed in the last Women's Handball World Championship. Currently, she is concentrating with the Cuban team to participate in the Central American Games taking place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The player describes herself as "an excellent defender" and asserts that this has been her main role both in the national team and in the teams she has played for. "I have many years of experience, achieving excellent results playing with the Cuban national team," she added.
With the arrival of Dianny González, CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife has now signed nine players for the 2026/2027 season. Prior to her, the club had announced the signings of wingers Ana Luisa Da Silva, Nathália Baliána, and Gema Soler; forwards Valentina Learreta and Uxia Fernández; central player Silvia Gil; pivot Fátima Ndiaye; and goalkeeper Audília Carlos.
The team, which competes in the Women's División de Honor Oro, aims to establish itself in the category following its promotion. The management continues to work on completing a competitive squad that can fight for the top positions in the table. The Lanzarote fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of the new Cuban pivot, who will bring experience and defensive solidity to the team.
